Just thought I'd post this up here rather than starting a new thread:

A while ago I made a step-by-step flashing and flexing guide for V600 users including pictures of the processes to try and make it as simple as possible for users to flash/flex their phone. Just thought I'd post it up here for people to use if they aren't quite sure of what to do:

It's based on my own experience, various guides I've found and comments from other people.

Yes,.... you lose any installed games, etc. Whatever is included with the flex overwrites installed items.. after of course first erasing any such items that are installed.

does pst work on Windows ME.. my boy has read all of this info in the different sites but he says he still cant get pst to work right..
can any1 let me know what is might be doing wrong.

i just flexed my v300, and it worked like a charm.. however one caveat is that now i have the short key icons permanently displayed on the main screen.... is there anyway of taking this off? also - after flexing, is my phone unlocked, or will i still have to get a code from t-mobile?

Yes it is easily taken off... Select Hide or Show icons.

CODE? .. your phone is still lOCKED... and will probally give you a start-up message saying so until code is entered. You will have to get the code from T-Mobile or pay if you get it elsewhere.

PS: What flex did you use /flash combo are you running? Do your VM indicators work properly?

Just looked at the read-me file
Windows NT / Windows 2000 / Windows 98SE

Don’t think it will work with ME as frankly hardly anyone writes programs for ME. It’s sort of like the ******* –half-brother- got to bail them out of jail every week @ 3am, cousins got together and had a baby of the MS OS family.

I think it's more like does ME work with PST. I don't know why anyone would have ME installed on their computer, honestly it's the most retarted thing Microsoft has ever created.

ME not working with PST, or PST not working on ME… same result… Program doesn’t work.

I would think it is more a case of PST not working with ME as no-one in their right mind bothers to be sure their programs are compatible with ME. The market is too small to write programs for… So yes it is a case of PST not working on ME. The PST program is looking for certain things, and ME doesn’t have what it’s looking for.

Is there ANYWAY to save my current flash? I have "9.1DR_A1". I would like to save it, just incase I do not like my new flash the 9.35. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

There is no way to save your flash.

You can flash over it with TRIPLETS_G_0B.09.1DR_A_LP0039_JPG_0B_TRIP_0B_04.05 R_SE6446AXXF10F8_1FF

(Or 9.1DR_A1 if you can find it)

and then reflex to whatever flex you prefer.

I am using flex version GI9V600000AA0E9 and firmware TRIPLETS_G_0B.08.A5R ...

if anyone knows of a better flash/flex combo, let me know... so far i've haven't noticed any bugs at all - and my vm/sms indicators are working the same ..

flashed my v600 to the 9.1 firmware and i am awaiting my unlock software. on other threads they say there will be problems unlocking after flash ? what kinds of problems ? is it still possible ?? please help ...

There should be no problems unlocking after a flash. The flash does not change if he phone is locked or unlocked. If you do flash BEFORE unlcoking, flash AGAIN after unlocking, then apply flex.

the problem is when i insert a t-mobile card it doesn't say enter subsidy code it just says contact service provider ??? w/ a att card it says flex error subsidy code lock something like that ?? what's going on ? if i did get the code how would i enter it w/ the t-mobile sim ? it just keeps saying contact service provider no matter what i type into the phone ? although the type of unlock it got doesn't mention anything about a subsidy code anyone know how it works ?

I have read through about half of the pages on this issue about Flashing/flexing. I have an AT&T Branded Motorola v600 and there are a number of things I want to get done with it...and I need help.

1) Get it unlocked...be able to use it on any network with any sim card.
2)Problem: My phone with it loses signal, it doesnt come back when im in an open area, I have to turn it off and turn it back on to get the signal back...and I think that is a bug. So, I would like to upgrade the firmware maybe fixing that problem, but also making the navigation faster. I was reading peoples posts saying its a lot fast and what not. Its slow for ending calls, would like to make that faster as well.
3) As #2, make everything faster and fix any bugs that came with the phone.
4) I dont need to flex bc I already have the v600, but need to flash.

I read the instructions on the flashing, but in my situation, what else do I need to do? How do I unlock the phone?

Weird. I have an AT&T phone that never did that. But with question #3 in mind, it's worth flashing to find out if that fixes the problem.

I have 38R on my phone, and it does great. Phone rings with Bluetooth on too. I have the E9 flex. Got rid of AT&T branding, which always bugged me before, and gave me the Engineering Menu. YMMV on that, since I'm a gear head.

Trying to understand this Flash Flex thing perfectly. Before last week I never heard of it and I've really been reading a lot of posts. Correct me anyone please. Ok my v600 is this:

Cingular phone unlocked - connected with ATT

040418

- Rubber strip
- No Notch
- Red lens

Flex: GS9V600CIN02NA11C

SW: TRIPLETS_G_0B.09.2FR

Questions-

1. Flashing is for people who have older phones (v300/400) to update features to v600 is it not?

2. If I'm correct on 1, why then are people flashing their v600? Is it not already a v600?

3. Flexing is for all people who want to remove the ATT/Cingular/T-Mobile branding etc?

4. Flashing may be risky, Flexing is not?

5. Will flexing void warranty?

i remember reading somewhere that said, if ur phone was locked then you can't flash/flex or it'll mess up? can someone please clairify this for me? thanks, i think this is the only thing holding me back, otherwise, i'm all good to go!

you wont mess up your fone, and if your fone is a v400 then its nto locked neway... i jus wanted to let ya hear a success story of both flashing and flexing.

1) Will flashing an ATT v600 with new firmware render any of the features on the phone's software inoperable, or will everything still work as before, just better?

2) Can you flash using bluetooth rather than the USB cable?

3) How do I see what the current firmware version is?

4) Will flashing "unbrand" my phone, and what exactly is meant by "unbranding"?

1) flashing does not change settings, flexing does.

2) No

3) settings > phone status > other information

4) Unbranding means when u open the V600 u should see ATTWS displayed outside on the screen faintly... if u FLEX it, it should show motorola. I use my flex coz it enable data volume counters and phone would ring while connected to BT headset.

I dont rmember were i found everything or whom i took advice from, but thanks to you all, with in 45 minutes of being on this forum my v525 ugly no fun vodafone phone went from boring to fabulas, thanks especially to the guy that posted the way to get rid of the red logo on the front with out scratching, and for the step by step instructions on flash/flexin, my phone has been done now about three weeks, no complaints, short battery life but guess thats a meager trade of for what i got, but othin else wrong, everything still works, only better, o yes, the sound the camera makes when u capture went, but who cares, still snapped, now i have re flexed and flashed with the AM flash/flex, awesoome, to the point i wont even put any other ringtones or wallpapers, i have one question though, ill put it like this, when i start my phone the hellomoto logo comes up yellowy and red then u hear the car starting and the logo fades to grey, then the AM sign peals away and the words POWER SOUL BEAUTY then the AM wallpaper, is that how it works, i mean the real AM phones. Well I cratered my phone. I read every post on here and followed the steps to a T.
I flashed the v400 to v600 and according to p2k it took. I started small w/ the volume hack and transfered a few pics and ringers to the phone to get a feel for how everything worked and I did the ************ flex and firmware and the screen won't work now.
The screen just turned off 1/2 through the flash and it won't light up. The outter LCD is dead too.
I'm using a motorola brand cable and all the connections were good. I finished, powered the phone off and on, no screen, I removed the battery for a few mins and also tried letting it charge for a while. No screen.
I'm at a complete loss. Is there a flash I need to look for that may restore this?

Put into Bootloader mode.....

Try re-flashing/flexing again. I believe you will have to use a monster pack which has the Flash/flex as a Combo. You may be able to use a standalone Flash, then Re-flex.

Bootloader mode.....
Turn the phone off, pull the battery if you can't turn it off the normal way, and then hold BOTH the * and # keys while your press (briefly) the power button to turn the phone on. Keep the * and # buttons pressed until the white screen comes up fully.

Now try loading up PST again. re-Flash. /re-Flex

This is odd. I don't even get the indiglo blue from the outer screen.
I really don't want to explain this to the store and try and return a 3 day old phone.

Yes I did. After I saw the screen didn't work. I pulled the batt, reset the computer and then tried to reflash w/ the same flex.
"GI9V600000AA0E9.rar"
after that didn't work I tried another one that I searched on and read about, its a little older but said it was bug free:
SE6452AXXP10F9_V600_ME0

the flash I did was:
TRIPLETS_G_0B.09.1DR

This almost seems like it cooked the screen.

My god Im looking everywhere and asking for answers and no1 will give them to me. I started out in a great mood this morning and it is quickly deterioating. Will someone please just help me. I need to get these files becaues everytime I d/l PST, which has now been 5 diff times this moring and 3 diff versions it is not working.

Not only that but I finally find a helpful post but it give a broken link......Can someone please give me a link as to where I can find the files I need to follow this persons step by step. Thanks.

don't forget to download the patched files and unzip them into your motorola\pst directory or to use the unipatcher, a working link to which i can't find at the moment after you install pst.

okay, if you're screen is really hosed, maybe you are in the bootloader mode and don't know it. after you power the phone on and plug in the usb cable and start up multiflashflex, does multiflashflex recognize your phone? if you press the "show devices" button, does your phone show up as device #1 in the listing? also, are you using a combined charging and data cable, or just a data cable? funny things can happen with the combo cable if the phone decides the battery is fully charged and tries to tell you so while you are flashing or flexing. as per the post a few up, follow that thread and on the first page are instructions on how to force the phone into boot loader mode by shorting a couple of pins in the cable if all else fails.

And note that there are (2) patches out there for PST... One has the files already patched (6.7)... the other is the patcher itself that patches your NATIVE files..

Don't really want to put 6.7 files in a 6.9+ install you know.

I was going to suggest the same thing, That's why I asked if he had re-flashed it. Phone may be on, but displays are not showing anything.

PS: I've been using a combo charging cable off Ebay from Everdaysource and flashed/flexed many things with no problems, but never have had to go into bootloader mode... Got a regular cable also just for the very reasons you stated above.

So is that a YES, the phone IS showing up in: MultiFlashFlex.exe?

BTW: What OS are you running, and at what patch level... Also what version of PST are you using?

Got to ask…. Your PC is clean right? No programs running in background while you installed the programs.. and you don’t have a bunch of programs running in the background while running PST, etc?

(PS: Conflicts can come the weirdest places…. My Adobe Acrobat would not work (forgot the details).. Turned out it was some file Norton Anti-Virus (Or System Works? ,Etc) modified…. Just about drove me crazy…. I’m not real crazy about products which put their little “hooks” into every corner of the OS… (I.E Norton System Works, etc)

And what patch did you use to patch it? Putting 6.7 files in a 6.9 may cause problems. (It did for me)

sorry for the confusion. The phone is showing up as it should. I'm running Win XP, i'm running patched 6.7 not the 6.9(haven't found that one)

at this point i would try to apply the combo flash/lang pack/flex TRIPLETS_G_0B.09.1DR_A w/ SE6446AXXF10F8 Flex. if that brought the phone back, then i would do some more, but that isn't important right now. good luck!

Thats the one I'd tried earlier, nothing!

The store I got the phone from is hassling me because I've already pulled the UPC from the box and mailed it in for the rebate. They don't care about the flash or how many mins are on it. How crummy is that. Its my friends store and they are more concerned about trying to DOA the phone w/o the box being intact.

Set up and install PST_6.7_GENERAL. After doing this, copy the files from PST_6.7_Patch.zip into the C:\Program Files\Motorola\PST folder or wherever you installed PST. Overwrite the original files with what the PATCH provided.

Now, restart your computer.

The files from P2K_driver2.3.zip are the drivers your computer needs to communicate with your phone through your USB port.

Have these files in an easily accessable folder, as you will need to point your computer to the folder when and if it asks for a driver!

Flash/Flex FILES

Again, these files are found at www.************. Use the nav bar on the left to go to the firmware section (firmware requires flashing) and the flex section (the software your phone will use) I would recomend these files:

Yes you will need a program called WINRAR to build/extract these files. (www.win-rar.com)

::Process::

Navigate to your C:\Program Files\Motorola\PST folder and open up MultiFlashFlex.exe Its a little gold motorola icon.

Check the box of what you would like to do, either FLASH with a firmware file (TRIPLETS ...) , or FLEX with one of the software files (GI9V600000AA0E9) Use the Browse button and go to your file you want to put on the phone and select it.

Check these boxes on the RIGHT: Overide existing phone software... and Master clear and Master reset.

**CAUTION** be sure to back up or save anything important like phone numbers and/or setting to your sim card. If you can't save them, write down what you need to save!!!

Under "Device" you should see your phone. If not, make sure its hooked up right, turned on, and that the drivers you downloaded for it are working.

When you are ready, hit START, and don't touch anything! It may fail the first time, especially when trying to FLASH. Don't worry, just power cycle your phone and try again. Took me 3 attempts before it actually worked.

What OS are you running, and at what patch level?
Is your PC "clean"
Are you running any Office 2003 apps?
Norton System works, etc.

No, no no... I’m not talking about the patch you got from Motclub… I was talking about what OS are you running and at what patch level it is.

Most of these programs we talking about require XP to be at Service pack 1 or better… and some programs such as MPT will not work correctly IF Office 2003 is installed until the work around is applied.

PS: on the PST patch there ARE 2 versions…. You need to download the uni-patcher if you plan on running PST 6.9 later. NOTE the uni-patcher can be used on 6.7 as well….

Here’s something to try>>>>>… get the uni-patcher off Motoclub… then run it and patch the PST files again… Maybe you forgot a file??? If you don’t want to run the un-patcher… Extract the already patched 6.7 files again to the same directory.. Maybe you forgot one!

So far as Norton System works... Norton Ant-Virus one time almost make me pull all my hair out.. It was screwing up my Adobe Acrobat... Acrobat would not open pre-made pdf's or create pdf's from locally stored files, or from online content until Norton crap anti-virus was updated.

Conflicts can come from the MOST unlikely places. I remember when Windows 95 first came out, I had upgraded a laptop from Windows 3.1… their was some kind of font installed that was screwing it up big time.. Wasted a lot of time on that one, and if even stumped MS tech support…. Only after a two hour!!! Phone call to MS tech support was a resolution found to the problem.

Things to think about: All these can cause a lot of problems…

Install alot of programs off the net?
Un-install allot of programs? –
Run every app and program you download?
Download Movies? Cracks?, Warez, etc?

Norton System Works? -This puts hooks everywhere; some programs may not like Norton

How long has it been since you done a clean reformat of the hard drive?
When installing programs, do you make SURE nothing is running in the background while doing so?
When running the programs you are trying ot get up and running do you make SURE nothing is running in the background while doing so?

CUT AND PASTE>this SECTION may NOT apply to you. Since most of the programs here rely on the same drivers? /Files as MPT to work correctly if you have Office 2003 installed you MAY have problems. (Not sure on that would apply to you.. just trying to throw ideas out there.)

I'd try re-patching PST and be such your system is at service pack 1..... I'd also TURN-OFF, and disable ALL the Norton crap.... Even though in the case of Norton conflicting with Acrobat, Stupid Norton Anti-Virus didn't even have to be "running" to screw up Acrobat!

I have flexed my V300 phone with several different versions of the flex and only one version of the flex has given no problems. Flex Version GI9v6000000AAE09 I have enabled 850 so it is now qaud band, I have removed the pesky T-mobile outside Display with a cool motorola one and enabled the engineering menu, pop3 email client, QQ messenger "some chinese messenger thingy" and Messenger Setup "for all other messenger setups, the videos look great one, the flex and a default video one it... It also free'ed up a megabyte of room wich is real cool cause it made some room for the MP's I chopped up. One important thing, UNLOCK THE SUBSIDY PASSWORD BEFORE FLEXING or you will be really pissed. It was worth flexing and im flexing my freinds v300 tommorow. THE ONLY THING THAT FLEXING WILL NOT ENABLE IS BLUETOOTH. I think that Maybe, MAYBE! the Motorola v3 RAZR flex might enable it. I know this phone is the same as v600 hardware wise I think if I were to talk another two months to find the right FIRMWARE Flash I could probably get the right Bluetooth Driver but the Razr interfrace is too cool so I'd rather tinker and test with that.. the cool thing about a flex, you can mess it and reload another, a firmware update can lock it up permanently, so I'll check out the RAXR Flex's and will let you know what I find, If you want to unlock the Phone with a Foriegn SIM CARD to get in the programming menu go to a idle screen, "just open the phone" and press quickly "menu" 073887* your security by default is all zeros by default "unless you changed it" and the select unlock sim, then put in your sim unlock code, I dont come to this site often so if you have any question email me webmaster@studio505.net :P

Great guide, I spent a lot of time browsing through the forum for something like this.

I have just flexed my v300 with the GI9V600000AA0E9 flex.

Everything looks good except whenever I receive a text message, the 'DOWNLD' button appears. When I press on it to download the message, nothing happens and it bring me back to the 'Message Inbox' menu. Then a few minutes later a message shows up saying 'Unable to download message. Try again later.'

Also the new message icon never disappears even all the text messages have been read.

Anyone else have related problems?

I had the same problem. Sometimes it takes forever to download and time out. I am using the same flex you are. ITs the best. It unlocks the Engineering menu under Office Tools in the main menu. go in their and be sure under phone capabilties it is set operator mode B. Operator Mode B allows Dual mode for GSM (phone calls) and GPRS (data, text messages, pictures, Tzones, ETC) Now after flashing your phone your going to have to take a whole day calling your service provider and manually get the settings for T-zones, MMS server address) But you now have access to the setting under Browser Sessions/Edit. Now changing to operator mode B will cause your phone to stop the date on the Idle sreen and will show GPRS. But you can put the date back on their with some seem editing mentioned in another thread. Some one here has a complete tutorial.

We need to attack the Sim Subsidy Calculation for Motorola There are a lot of flex and flashes I would love to expmeriment with. Has anyone got a Flex or Flash from the V3 Razr or MPX220 they can Upload. I am anxious to mod the Vxxx series and the mpx200 with these.

If everyone can try to list your subsidy unlock code with your imei and network code so we can try to crack the Subsidy Key Generator Code.

I have seen Nokia done allready and their are key calculators free all over the web. But we have neglected Motorola.

Your info is great, I did a search on this forum and found a thread talking about it and linked to a T-mobile site that can update your WAP, MMS and Internet automatically.

Now the text messaging issue is fixed. I still didn't fix the date issue but I don't really mind it.

After using T-mobile's website to update my settings automatically I was able to download my text messages and visit T-zone again.

First night after the flex, my phone didn't even last a day with a full charge. This flex is a battery drainer. I wonder if there are any settings that contribute to this.

Ok I installed PST, the patch and the drivers. I open up P2K flash/test (pst.exe) and point to my .shx file, my phone shows in the device list on bottom but the flash button is grayed out with the error message "Flash Prog **Error**Unable to connect to the Subscriber Unit. Unable to retrieve interface handle." I've rebooted the phone and computers all several times.

I have searched google and hofo but didn't find anything useful...any ideas?

If that's the case I better explain that to all the phones I've flashed, flexed, and SEEM edited with Generic cables bought off Ebay.

The phones I have must not know that you "have" to have a OEM Motorola USB data cable.

Ebay ..EverydaySource /Eforcecity.... Got a charging, and Non-charging cable for about $10 shipped for both... Work just FINE.

well you have to forgive me then everything I buy is OEM but thats becuase im a sys engineer, i doubted that some radio shack sh(it would work when it came to all pk2 permissions.... because I dont have any issues either....

F8 works good on T-Mo USA, will requre a few seem edits to get dialed numbers to appear as xxx-xxx-xxxx, instead of the European format of xxxxxxxxxx

Use SeemPlayer to edit 004A_001 SEEM.

You use P2K Manager to "offload" a copy off phone, then edit with SeemPlayer, then use P2K manger once again to put back on phone.

TIP: When you first open P2K Manager, select download seem box (Don't change or enter anything in the box, or the next box that appears saying xxxyyyzzz.. select a directory to download to.. Then hit download.. Several minutes later you'll have a copy of most ALL seems on phone (about 2,000)...

Next step: ZIP them up, put them in a read only file (ZIP or RAR)..

Only then fire up Seemplayer to edit needed seems. Make note of the Seems that are editable with Seemplayer, then delete the rest... as those 2,000 seems will take up about 8mb of disc space… Seemplayer makes a backup file of the edited seems, so it’s pretty easy to tell which seem NOT to delete from 2,000.

You could also after editing the seems you want, select by file date, de-selecting the files that were just edited.. and then deleting the bulk of the 2,000 ones that you will never “edit”… but might need for some strange reason in the future.

In addition to editing seem 004a_001, You will probably want to edit SEEM 0032_0001, select high level player edit, then "select blocks these features"...

Otherwise your Voice Mail VM will not work right, you will get the _@ symbol on incoming voce mails if you don't edit 0032_0001

BTW: You can also edit the seems manually.

I've been reading and reading and searching, I think I've got most of the info I need/want but I'm sooooooo confused about what Flash/Flex combo to use!! I'm using a v300 on Rogers, I want to flash it to v600. I keep coming up with Flash/Flex combo’s but the posts are outdated, each time I search I come up with a newer file combo.

So, my question….(PM me a link?) where can I find a library of files..? I looked at “support.studio505.net”, I don’t see anything there and I’ve looked all over HowardForums but again keep finding older file suggestions.

Been there, done that, flashed it last night, flex failed.

1. I don't have any sound, the phone speaker and headset are dead. What did I miss? Must be a setting somewhere I need to change...
I used: TRIPLETS_G_0B0972R_LP0032_JPJAVA_G_0B_TRIPLET_04_0 5R_SE6424AXXT11D4_1FF.zip

2. Each time I attempted the flex, my laptop got the dreaded BSOD. I tried 4-5 times and finally gave up. I hope it's an issue with my laptop and it just needs a little TLC. Anyone else have BSOD issues while attempting to flex?

Other than that, it all seems fine! Too bad I can't hear anyone when they call...although they can hear me just fine.

Hey i successfully flashed my A630. However, when i go to flex it, using MutiFlashFlex it tells me an error saying that "Device 0 is in Flash mode and will not be fixed! Please restart the radio!" Is there a way of turning on Flex mode or something?

I don't mind GPRS under the provider...
Only thing that i regret is that with this flex (GI9V600000AA0E9 from www.v600.howardforums.com) I don't have status report for sms any more. Any idea how to fix this? Maby that engineering???
I noticed a bug too. When I try to record voice memo it goes well, i hold the voice key and so on... But when i try to record voice name for phonebook entery it says press voice key and say a name, but it doesn't react on voice key!!! I tried pressing or holding every ×××× key on the phone with no luck... Is that only with my phone or?
Is there any other stabile flex that has status report and/or fixes this bug?
Good stuff: I got video support, 6.5MB instead of 5 with voda flex, no vodafone softkey, no vodafone web sessions and other voda-stuff.

Reflash will not delete any of your "phone files". Reflash only updates the firmware, not the flex/data part. But any flashing should be safe guarded with a backup.
