Siemens S56 and Tungsten T3 - T-mobile GPRS?

Hi,
I've just purchased a (unlocked ) siemens S56 and am trying to bluetooth it t68i-style to browse the web on my Tungsten T3. Anyone have any experience with the settings on this? The standard palm phone connector settings don't work. I get a "timed out" error after it tries to connect. And when I use standard t68i settings, it says it connects, but doesn't pass any data. Weird.

There is a phonelink application on the Palm that will allow you to set up both the connection to the phone and the web/email settings (there should be a pre-configuration to choose for Tmobile). If you've already done that (used the phonelink wizard, not did it manually in Preferences) then I'm not sure what the problem is. I used an s56 with a T3 for months on Cingular with no problems.

iJITSU,
Did you have to do anything special to use the S56 with your T3?
I got an S56 a week ago and have been unable to access the internet from either the T3 or my PowerBook G4.
I have installed the PhoneLink update from Palm, and according to Cingular the account is provisioned properly (although I have my doubts).
Any help that you may be able to provide would be greatly appreciated, as I have to consider returning the phone if I can't get this to work (GPRS access to the internet via Bluetooth was a primary reason for going with the Siemens/Cingular).

I have the same problem. I just got a Siemens S56, trying to use with a Tungsten T3, used updated PhoneLink software, no go. The specific error I get is "PPP Timeout". It does CONNECT, but fails after that. The end of the log looks like:
CHAP<-Success
CHAP Up
IPCP->CfgReq
LCP<-TrmReq
LCP->TrmAck
LCP<-TrmReq
LCP->TrmAck
LCP Timeout

I STUMBLED UPON THE ANSWER.
First, after using the Phone Link software to set up the network connection, do the following:
Change the User Name to "WAP@CINGULARGRPS.COM" (all caps)
Change the password to "CINGULAR1" (all caps)
Tap "Details..." then tap "Script..."
Change the GPRS1 line to "Delay: 0"
How did I discover this?
The user name and password come from the latest Cingular GPRS setup developer PDF file.
The "GPRS1 -> Delay: 0" was luck. I was trying to figure out what "GPRS1" was sending (you can look in the log after it fails to see what happened) and so I had changed it to send some garbage and I was going to then edit it and fiddle with the settings. But it suddenly worked the moment I changed it!
I suspect what happened is that GPRS1 is actually the modem init string. It must be setting compression settings that for some reason Cingular can't cope with (thus the timeout). Whatever the case, the above works. I am going to report this bug to Palm so hopefully they'll update their Phone Link software and save lots of other people this nightmare.

I had a problem getting Cingular GPRS to work with my Siemens S56. Unfortunately what worked on your Tungstan T3 needed a few additional steps to work on the the Zire72.
After five days, on and off, of searching the web for clues, I have finally got things talking. I outlined the diagnostic steps and the changes. I still can't believe how useless Palm technical support was ! They didn't even make an attempt to move the call to second level support. I kind of doubt if they even have a second level support !
1) I wrote down the contents of the the default network login script.
2) I deleted everything in the script.
3) I added each of the GPRS# tasks into the script as the sole entry, and ran the connect test.
4) After each test I examined the log file (Available as a pull down menu from inside 'Preferences','Network').
.
.
To make a long story short the defaults, set up by the Palm software for the Cingular GPRS are all wrong, and the userid and password were incorrect. The Default userid should be : WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM, and the password CINGULAR1. (I hope that I got this all down correctly...)
The default login script looked something like this (the items in brackets are the output from the log).
Default Script:
GPRS4 {AT&FX1E0V1\r\r\nOK}
WAIT: OK
GPRS1 {\r\n\r\nOK}

I actually used this on T-mobile and it's working VERY well. Much better than the modem setup I've been using. I set it up with the S56 LAN connection that the palm connect software sets up and used the following script. It works GREAT. Connects much more quickly and is much more stable.
Send: AT&CGDCONT=1,"IP","wap.cingular"
Send CR:
Delay:0
WAIT For: OK
GPRS2:
GPRS3:
GPRS5:
GPRS6:
WAIT For: CONNECT
DELAY: 0
END
