please help, my t610 front cover will not come off. Its all because of one screw - the rest i can get out easily, but one screw will just not budge. What should i do? I was thinking of drilling it out and finding replacement screws but i do not know where to buy them

please help as im really stuck what to do!!!

I assume you're using a T6 driver to remove the screws....
Is the screw stripped? Or does the screw turn, but not come out?

If the screw is stripped, get your hands on a T7, with a good bit of pressure and turning it will eventually strip fully to a T7 and come out.

If the screw turns with the T6 but doesn't come out, keep turning it about 2 - 3 full turns, then just lift the cover off. Then you'll need a pair of neednose pliars to hold the screw catch on the front of the phone while you remove the screw.

If anymore help is needed, reply and I'll try to help. I do this crap every day all day, so there's a few tricks to removing it without fully screwing up the screw (no pun intended)

thanks very much for the advice mate it was much appreciated. I ended up drilling it out the screw though. Its still pretty firm but maybe not as good as it used to be. To try and get a better fit, i screwed the remains of screw into the case and it holds together quite well.

Gothalyptic, are you working in a SE service center or something?

I want to take off the antenna cover, what is the best tool do you suggest? Use a picture hanger like XPMillionium, or use a plastic ballpoint pen cap some other suggested?

And how do you take out the antenna safely? Is it connected to the phone? Thansk!

To get my cover off i used 2 lids from BIC pens. They worked perfectly and didnt damage anything. hope that helps,

no I work in a mod shop doing these ×××× phones all day, and other phones lol.

Easiest tool I've found is a very small flat head srew driver, about the size of the one you find in eye glasses repair kits. Ball point top works well in a pinch also, but if you're not careful you will warp the antenna cover a bit.

about there is where you want to put the screwdriver, Halfway between the outside and the camera on the left. Now push up slightly, you'll see the antenna cover bow up a bit. Now use your thumbs and push it off. If it doesn't come off easy, push the screw driver in a bit more...there's a reversed hook underneath the cover you want to take off.

If you use ATT, I've noticed it's harder then TMo's, same with cingular, they're both hard, TMO is a bit easier.

As for the antenna itself, just take your screwdriver again, on the top left corner and pry it up, i'll snap out and then you can remove it. To put it back on, you'll need to place the back in first, then kind of slide it into place.

Thanks man for the details and nice graphic. My volcano red OEM (or so it's claimed) is coming Thursday and I can't wait to open it up.

I just found out that my trox screw driver in my Belkin tool kit is a size 15... Where can I get a size 6? Sears?

Posted by: Gothalyptic

Sears, 3 bux.

Or a hobby shop that deals with RC cars and Planes and stuff like that. Sears is the best bet. Get a 6 and a 7, in case you strip a screw you have a backup plan

Finally got my "OEM" red housing. It's a fake, as khaltire's said, there's about only 0.0001% of the worlds population could tell. It's that real.

Anyways, struggled on the antenna cover a bit, finally got it off and everything worked out nicely. Fire it up, it works!

But there is one little problem.. The battery cover doesn't come with the foam padding. The battery is lose now with the new battery cover. How do you solve this problem? What would be the best alternative of the padding that I can buy easily off the street?

I may be able to get one from work for you. PM me with a shipping address I can send it to, will send it normal postage in an envelope.

Although a good alternative would be to hit a kiosk, or store that sells AM faceplates (OEM usually doesn't have these) and ask them for the black foam inserts for a Nokia 3390, 3360, or something like that. Most places should keep some on hand, just take out the middle section and stick it in.

Again I can get some from work (Yep, work in a kiosk doing this crap and mods all day) that I can ship to you.

can you get oem t610 faceplates? How much would that cost?

Gothalyptic, please read my PM.
