Inno 90 - thoughts?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Anyone with the Inno 90 please let me know your honest feedback on it. I'm very interested in getting one. I currently own a N6600 and might be interested in trading for an Inno 90. Mistake? Any and all feedback is appreciated.

PROS:

1. Great look and feel
2. Great camera and doesn't lag at all (great not as in gx22 but very good for itz price)
3. MP3 ringtones are really sweet
4. Very nice screen (both inside and outside)
5. The earpiece volume is sufficient and can be used pretty much as speaker phone if you're in a quiet room

CONS:

1. Reception could be a bit better. Itz not bad. Can live with it
2. When typing a text message or dialing a number, the keys lag and sometimes it skips a number or 2 or messes up what you're trying to write in the text message.
3. Software issues/bugs. Some people have complained about minor bugs on phone like when the phone is connecting during a call, you can't push the red button to hang up. Instead you have to close the flip.
4. PC Sync. So far I'm pretty sure almost 90% of people using the cable and software have had small problems once in a while. Whether it's not being able to send ringtones or not even able to connect to phone at all.
5. Battery life could be improved on from what I heard. But for mine when i was draining battery and turned on camera. It surprisingly had half the battery meter full after about 3 hours. So then i started to take 6-frame shots to waste more battery and it took at least over 50-75 of those 6-frame shots before i gave up and just set up a game going and left it. Battery ran out after about 1-2 hours into the game. So battery life may be poor with some people's =/
6. No java. No games have been found so far to be downloaded
7. Camcorder has no voice recording. Only records images but no sound.

Overall a great phone. Only things that bring down the ratings of this phone are the firmware issues and the PC Sync problem

i would say keep the 6600 unless you don't use all of its features.

i have yet to have a single problem with my inno 90

i think a majority of the problems may have been with the first lot of phones - so by now you should be safe

as far as the pc sync - again - i see a lot of people posting about problems - but i havent had any

the only problem ive had is with the key lag during text messages - i know for some people this isnt a big deal but im used to the lightning quick response of the nokias and the inno 90 is just no match

as far as the hanging up bug - i dont have that - i could click the red button or select end at anytime during a call and the phone immediately disconnects

i highly recommend this phone - in chicago - ive had super reception - even in elevators and the like - and not many people have it

just my two pennies...

about the camera, it tends to blow out highlights. Another fault is some phones will get dust behind the external LCD.

I agree with all of TW's opinions of faults of the Inno. Battery life isn't exceptional, but it's about average, I can get about a day of moderate usage off the slim battery. On the first few days while trying to draining it, I made 50 minutes of calling with like 25% battery and it still wouldn't fully drain.

Does n mean nokia? The nokia 6600 is better if you want bluetooth (but i've heard nokia has marginal bluetooth implementation). personally i like the clamshell format.

I personally think the greatest flaw of the camcorder, is that most of the files that result are too big to send to computer via e-mail/mms. And the cable doesn't sync movies.

Oh yeah, there are some minor things that might fustrate you once in a while after you start using the Inno 90 but hey, aren't all phones like that?
Well, don't be too scared to purchase this phone because of all the negative things i said about the phone. It's still a really great phone but just wanted you to prepare for the "worst" of this phone because some guy bought this phone a few days ago and wasn't really pleased with menu speed or something and just refunded it. Good luck choosing

just to note if you set the phone to beep for the key tone, you get zero lag when dialing a number. unlike the voice which lags ALOT. I think it involves the phone playing the sound rather than actually recognizing the keys.

Posted by: Kricket

ill have to try that - right now i have mine set to no tone though - and the keys are definitely slower than the nokias ive had experience with

if text messaging is a big deal - the nokias t9 and quick keys are the way to go...

I used to own a N7650 and a samsung V200 and my mom has a N6600 and what can i say... hmmm...

braindead is correct, if you're not much of a user of the features of the N6600 such as the real player, bluetooth and all that tech stuff.. you'll like the phone...

There are something i can't seem to shake off about the phone:
1. You can't send your contacts via text/business card and you can't receive business cards...
2. Texting lags... i'm accustomed to fast texting... but i'm trying to live with it...
3. Can transfer the contacts from sim to phone vice versa... you have to manually enter it into the phone memory and there's no delete all function also... so you'll have to delete it one by one...
4. You can only set 1 downloaded tone as your ringtone but mine has pretty cool pre-set mp3 ringtones that i got from my dealer, so there...
5. No java games, can't upload gif files (except by wap or receive them thru mms)
6. it seems that it has poor reception... my cousin experiences the same thing...

PROS:
1. kick-××× external and internal screen.. wows the peeps everytime i close it... and open it
2. External circular light just draws people to the phone...
3. When u convert mp3 as a ringtone, comes out pretty clear, but you have to download a program to increase the volume of the mp3 before converting it or else it wont be as loud as the pre-set mp3's... I use streambox ripper
4. cool design

I guess you have enough pros... let me mention the cons

CONS: (my experience)
- can't set mp3 ringtones to individual groups
- 200K of mp3 ringtone is not long enough
- reception is "OK"
- speaker is too sensitive... sometimes, friends are complaining that i am speaking way to loud... but actually my voice is quite soft
- key lag (as mentioned in the previous posts)
- camcorder has no voice recording (as mentioned in the previous posts)

CONS: (my friend's experience)
- camera is not working properly...
- can't receive calls properly... need to phone her twice at least
- phone always restarts by itself

innostream is not a big company

agreed on all the other points - a lot of people are hit/miss with the reception - i happen to get excellent reception here in chicago with t-mobile - but the "ok" reception has been posted more than once

i think it has something to do with carrier

as far as the microphone sensitivity - try typing *888*888# and enter the audio gain menu - there you can adjust the mic gain and maybe by lowering it - you may alleviate some of the problem

i havent experienced any problems with mine that i know of (at least, my friends havent started to complain yet )

Posted by: tw_1_n_star

How do you adjust mic gain? I'm afraid of messing up the settings and totally screwing up the phone. Can you put a step by step instruction on how to adjust it?

I get reception EVERYWHERE with Tmobile in chicago but I get crappy reception with AT&T, I really need to switch to Tmobile because I had a real good time with my friends SIM card

Posted by: tw_1_n_star

With Fido, my reception isn't as good. With Rogers, it's amazing. Only problem with Rogers is that they charge high rates, so i switched to Fido =/
