Help w/ vx6000 futuredial cable setup

I've been reading through posts for hours now, and I can't seem to find out what's wrong with my phone or cable.

I just bought the cable from radioshack, and when i installed it using drivers from futuredial, i had no problem at all using bitpim (ofcourse it was a bit slow). The main problem I'm having is that I can't seem to get the computer to see it as a modem. It only shows up in the ports as "Prolific USB to Serial" on Com 5. It's not seen at all as a modem.

Reading through threads, I saw that when i first installed it, it should have installed as a modem then, but the "add new hardware" never came up after I plugged the phone in (i followed instructions from futuredial). It simply said "new hardware found" --> Prolific USB to Serial --> and that was it. I think it was supposed to come back up with a dialog and then I would select the LG5350 folder and it would continue with setup so that it would show up with as modem.

I've tried uninstalling and re-installing and running the add new hardware feature manually but it has never detected the phone as a modem. I even tried installing the LG drivers as well.

I'm really stuck and have no idea what's going. Bitpim works like a charm.. but i'd like to be able to dial-up as well. If someone can please help me, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thank you very much.

The instructions on those site tell him to do what he already did. It assumes that the phone shows up as a modem after the LG drivers are installed, which it doesn't. I am having this exact same problem.

try doing a search in these forums for "vx6000 modem" or something like that.

i've got mine working but i forgot exactly how i did it. try adding the modem manually, add a standard 28.8 or 33.6 modem and select the com port that the driver for the cable is installed on.

Moved to the software forum.

Ok, I figured it out.

You have to make sure that the 1X Data setting on your phone is set to Serial. You have to then go and add your phone as a modem manually. I did selected a 33.6kbps modem and it works great. After you have the modem installed, just follow the instructions on that web page and you're good to go.

Thanks Everyone,

I finally have my phone dialing to the internet.

Has anyone w/ a futuredial cable for the vx6000 been able to upgrade from the standard 33.6 driver to the LG driver and had the phone still work.
I figured that if I updated the drivers to the LG ones that it would work better and that I'd possibly get EN. I'm currently dialing into the EN login, but max speeds are 37.8 kbps for me. When I tried to upgrade the driver the phone it wouldn't dial anymore, but I'd still be able to get resposes from the phone when I'd go to the diagnostics. Any thoughts on how to get the LG drivers working with the futuredial cable so I can access EN at higher speeds? Otherwise I guess I'll have to stay with the standard 33.6 driver

Btw.. I'm on XP Pro

Thanks again for all the help
