I recently found out that Panasonic will be releasing the GD88 which is a flip phone with a color screen, MMS and all the works including being tri-band. Unfortunately, that's all I know. Does anyone else have information on this phone? It was announced at CeBit this year.

Panasonic is having two new phones in the works, which they presented at Cebit '02. The flip modell GD87 and the regular modell GD67. Please find more info below or here
Panasonic's GD67
The GD67 (shown left) also due later this year was also shown and also features a colour display. This will be a middle tier phone and as usual from Panasonic will pack in a lot of features for the price. This model also has improved polyphonic ringtones as well as EMS.
The WAP browser will allow limited colour support for WAP, but games, images and messaging will be able to take advantage of the colour screen.
The GD67 comes with a transparent rear cover which allows you to personalise your phone, even a picture from a magazine can be cut our and placed inside the cover to give it your own personal touch.
Panasonic's GD87
Panasonic have shown off the GD87 designed to be the flagship model of the line for 2002. With a built in camera, MMS, GPRS and WAP 2.0 browser. The 65000 colour high resolution screen will be a boon and make good practical use of the multimedia features built in.
The external screen on the clamshell design removed on of the greatest problems with this design as caller ID is now available even with the unit closed.
The GD87 has even better polyphonic ringtones than its predecessors from Panasonic with the new ringer using 16 tone polyphonics.

88 is on the horizon. I would expect it fall of 2003 in time for christmas. Rumor on the street is that it is a high tier phone, Includes Java, USB, bluetooth and may even have a 2D pivoting lid as opposed to a clam shell. Color displays inside and out, I have even heard that it has a slot for flash memory (MP3 player or maybe for the camera.) It will be at least triband if not quad and I expect a very hefty sticker price.
As for the 67 and 87 series, they are expected to be out for christmas but no telling, there is not any filing information with the FCC yet.
Again the word on the street is that 67 will only be available in Europe, Canada and South America. You would have to import it to the US. It does not meet governmental regulations for the hearing impaired and directed locationing.

Thanks Rebel, so I'm pretty much set on the idea of buying the Panasonic GD88, hopefully by this Christmas. As along as the price is less than $700, I'll be fine with it.
