I cannot complain either. An email account would be good to have built in, but I guess I cannot expect everything at the same time. And the GX32 doesnt have it either, so that is why I am not jumping on it so quickly.

I want to buy it but then seeing that the seller will profit for US$140(after deduction of Ebay selling fees and Paypal fees)... I rather wait till it drops... at least US$650-700 selling price is ok.

I agree. The seller will draw competition. However he has to make profit of course, as he has the connection how to buy them off of Hong Kong. Even local Hong Kong people have trouble getting these phones, as they sell faster than they manufacture them. At least that was the case with the GX22.

yeah - that guy has always had the newest stuff before anyone else even really knew what it was (innostreams - geos - nokia 7200, 7600 - siemens c62, etc)

i always thought that he/she shipped them directly from hk - i could be wrong though - under location it does say US but claims worldwide shipping also...

Hmmm. I got offered a GX32 for $1000 haha. It's a bit less than what i expected price would be so it's actually not bad at all. It's definately cheaper than when the GX22 came out

Most likely not any time soon since there is no phone right now that can compare to the camera. But once some other phones like P730, the seimens mega pixel series, the K700/S700, the price should drop pretty badly. But right now the most it'll drop to is like 800-900 after a few months =/

Buy high, sell low. Not sure how much you can get for your GX22 now that everyone thinks that they'll drop by a lot so they'll be a pain in the ××× when you try to sell to them for usual price since a week ago. Then just wait a while to buy the GX32 because the price will definately drop but maybe not by a lot. I still remember when the GX22 first came out and was exact same price of the GX32 right now haha

Really? Well I didn't get the GX22 until December...I think around that time people were selling for about $700, but I got a really good price on mine...how about the GX32 for $800? Do you think it would drop to $800 quickly? Thanks.

I'm going to Hong Kong this end of April till mid-May...hopefully the price of the GX-32 will drop a bit. I'm planning to get it from Smartone...have my aunt take the one year contract thing and get the phone for about $3,986HKD...I think that's the contract price that's posted on Smartone.

doubt it....

it wont drop in price until at least one comparable phone is released

the only problem is by that point, you wont want the gx32 anymore

if you are thinking of selling your gx22, pm me a price and i MAY be interested....or i may just wait for the gx32

hehe $800HKD difference....might as well buy the GX-32? I think the MMC function and the quad-band is worth the extra dough. I'm just going to do the installment plan thing. I'll just pay my relatives in HK everymonth for the payments.

Well, firstly, the GX32 is already $800 in HK, so you don't really need a contract if you don't mind this price. Because if you're visiting there yourself, then you have a chance of not being taxed through customs unlike shipping the phone here.

It will drop a bit in the next few months but not by a few hundred. Maybe by 100 or a bit more. But the big price drop comes when the S700/K700 or like P730 comes out or any other phone with a mega pixel camera. Not familiar with the siemens series that has the mega pixel camera but they're due to be released soon i think.

Take a look at that post again. Notice that he didn't put USD at the end of the $1000 dollars and look right under his screen name. GTA.....is in canada. 1000CAD= 750USD.

I think that I should have around a $900 tax-free thing if I stay in Hong Kong for a month or so. Or I can always slip in my Rogers SIM card into the phone and bs my way through the customs saying that I got the phone here....lol

haha well just make sure you're carrying that phone with you, then hide box real good along with the manuals and stuff.

Can the GX-32 play MP3's as ringtones? Also, people were complaining on the bluetooth for the GX30, why? Does the GX-32 have the same problem? I wonder whether the phone to pc through BT restriction is also there on the GX32?

I'm charging it right now (at least for 2 hour). Does anyone know where to buy the USB data cable fo this phone? So far, I'm unable to find it everywhere.

I think you are better off with an IrDA thing. You can get it if you dont have it. It is a little cigarette lighter size device that you connect to the USB port, and you can communicate. It does everything that the USB cable does, unless if you want to mess with the firmware, etc.

I use it with my Gx22, and it has been great so far.

Awww..... I just notice that Ebay seller 'x1387' drops the Sharp GX32 price from US$749 to US$719. That's US$30/CND$50 price reduction in just about a week since he sell them. Maybe the price drop because he needs to sell more of the phone since perhaps he have lots of them and less people buy them so far. Well.... what can I say.... but overall I'm happy with the phone since I'm the first one to own this 'beauty' in my city.

Guys, you can get the GX30 here in Australia for AUD$799 (US$600) without contract. The GX22 here is US$560.

Since you have the phone... what is the purpose of the expandable storage with the SD/MMC cards? Can you use it to save your contacts, ringtones, and data?? or is it just good for pictures, mp3, and video? meaning, does the phone prompt you to ask where you want to save your data to? i just want to know if the expandable is only limited to multimedia.

The SD/MMC Card purpose are for saving mp3,video, and picture. You can't save contact/data to the SD/MMC. Correct me if I'm wrong.

2. if you can use mp3s as ringtones?

From seeing pictures of the menu system, I think that the GX32's menu is pretty much alike the GX22 with a few more added in things to select.

you're positive about this? i just came back from Pacific Mall, where they are selling it for $1100 CDN, and the lady at the store said you can save data, contacts, etc on the SD/MMC just like the 6600. but then again, she could be just saying anything to sell the phone.

it's quadband. another good point about the phone since it has 850. the only thing that seems to be hindering it is the software/OS. all of the gripes could be easily solved with a different OS on the phone. i don't know why they just didn't go symbian.

Some one was saying they were getting the phone from Smartone, on their website, it shows the stand alone price.... does that mean the phone is unlocked? Or do you still need to get the phone unlocked. I'm planning to go to HK in Janurary.

I am also wondering if anyone knows about csl1010/one 2 free 's trade in phone policy. Their website says that they will take in any authorized dealers' phone. So let's say, I get the $100 SE T616 phone from FIDO and trade it in (the sheet shows that you can get back $1450 HK) for another phone. Do you think this will work? Plus what do you guys think of MItac's 8390? There were bad reviews for the Mitac 8380.

I wonder if csl1010/ one 2 free will be getting the Sharp GX-32.

The phone is never locked by SmarTone.

@645ci: yeah, the price dropping is really awesome! i mean... in the first days/week the gx30 was sold for 500€+ (~625$+)!!!
now you can get it for 350€ (~375$) if you're lucky!

that makes me really think it over, wether i should buy the gx32... for example end of april the price stays the same ~700$ (~580€) + the shipping to germany (50$ = ~35€) + taxes (don't know how much)... all combined i would pay aorund 700€ (~830$)!!!

350€ vs. 700€!!!

the gx32's only advantage (at the moment) is NO vodafone branding... and perhaps stereo mp3 player (but many say the gx30 is also stereo)...
i think that's a LIL' too less to buy it for 700€... or what do you think?!

Any idea if the GX-32 has a speakerphone function? Cos in Singapore even Bluetooth earpieces have been banned from usage in the car. Only the speakerphone function remains legal....

You're going to HK in January of 2005? There will be loads of better phones out by then, including a possible GX42.

Oh well, Sharp was known for their nice camera on their phones. However, how is it for reception. As long it's at par with samsung, I won't have complaints.

Well, I guess there is no point getting the newest and latest phone when I go to HK. I rather go for the price drop in GX-32.

So, does anyone know about the trade in price policy at csl1010/one 2 free? I hope my scheme works.

Cause I can get a cooler phone with fido's help

By then all manufacturers will have 1+ megapixel phones out with a lot of other features. Even Seimens and Panasonic will have them even though they seem to be a bit slow on the technological advances.

They are not a bit slow but ×××× slow ... crawling is more appropriate ...

By the time they released the 1 Megapixel phones, Sharp would have start releasing her 2 Megapixel ones then the cycle continue ...

I would also have taken 1,000,000,000,000,000 pics with GX32 before the next batch of 1 Megapixel phones appear.
