How to make QPC ringers louder?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Question for all. I can make my own ringtones, cutting up the MP3 and then converting it to QPC, but when uploaded to the phone (VM4500) they are too low (even when the speaker is set to loudest), is there any way to make the wave files louder before i convert them to QPC? If so what program should i use?

thanks

Can you please let me know what program is used to convert wav to qpc files?

Thanks in advance.

Qualcomm Purevoice is the converter...wav file must be in a certain format...sorry I dont remmeber off the top of my head but I think it is 8000Hz 16bit mono

I have that program, and could open the wav files, but how do i convert them to qcp files?

When opening wav's, it only allows to save as a wav.

Thanks

You have the player you need the converter....it is 3 files...just drag the wav file in the proper format over the pvconv file contained in converter file and you are done.

What I do is take the mp3 and convert to a wav file, open it in Windows Sound Recorder (It's under Accessories then Entertainment) under Effects there is a switch to "Increase Volume by 25%" Carefull or it'll get all distored. Then QCP it.

I use winamp to convert mp3s to .pcm. then I open the .pcm in the windows sound recorder program and edit it there, using the "increase volume 25%" option until it's however loud I want it. then I convert to .qcp.

So what all do I need to make my own QCP ringtones? I have winamp. I thing I had purevoice once and coudln't figure out how to do it. Cause I have 2 MP3 songs that I would love to have as ringers. Can yo give me or PM me step by step instructions?
Thanks, Rose

If you're using the Qualcomm Purevoice program and are up to the point where you're ready to save (read: convert) the WAV into a QCP you have to first open the WAV file, then press CTRL+ALT+C and wait a second. Click on File -> Save As, and you should see qcp show up in the file type box.

Hope that helps.

So do I need to dowload the purevoice converter? I downloaded it but i think I already had this cause one website you needed PureVoice to view some of the ringers. But I have 2 songs I want to make ringers lets see If I can do it. I know I tried before and messed up. But my songs are in MP3 do I need to make them wav files? Rose

Ok, I did it I made my MP3's Wavs made sure in sound recorder they were 800 mono 16 whatever it was supposed to be. But then you hit Alt Shift C it said and now I have my 2 songs as QCP files. But I have the whole song now how do I just get part of it on my phone. Is it going to be a big file? I tried it for a test and I knew 3guploads would say to large of a file. I just need to know how to get part of the song now that it is in QCP. Thanks again for your help.

Yeah I know what you mean. What you have to do is get whatever song you want converted into a WAV and then take it into a sound editing program. I use Audacity (google for it) because it's free. It can be a little confusing to use... but it can get the job done. I open the WAV file in Audacity and trim out the parts of the song I don't want in the ringtone, then save the WAV and convert it to QCP using the Purevoice program.

Ok thanks, I may try that. I already have the song in wav file and I converted to QCP. So I need to cut out what I dont want sabe as wav then remake as QCP. I may try it. I will download the program and try it. I have sound blaster live value I wonder if it came with some kind of editing program? Rose

a .qcp file is about 1kb/second

Posted by: vintagenoise

the default windows sound recorder program can be used to crop .pcm (.wav) files.

Well I did it. I had something called Talk Works editor and I just highlighted what I didn't want and cut it out and then saved it to QCP. But it doesn't sound good and isn't loud at all. Someone on here makes QCP ringers for people on his website and he made me one a while back and I have it and it's nice and clear and loud. I wonder what he uses? But I do know how now which is good. I tired doing 2 and ended up only keeping one since they are bigger files then just a little midi ringer. Rose

Yeah it's hard to find one that sounds good and is loud enough compared to a poly. ringer. I've made a couple so far and the only good one was a clip from 99 problems.

Yeah I agree! I made 2 kept one which still isn't so good. I may try some more later. But someone fdid make me one and it's loud and clear. Rose

how hard can this possibly be? if I make you a couple ringtones, will you be satisfied?

I just made a couple .qcp files and they probably sound just like the ones these lads have made. The volume is low, the sound is muffled and distorted.

There must be a way to get a clear sound out of the qcp.

Anyone care to share?

Here is one of the ones I made:

qcp file

Someone made me one on there website and it really good. I looked at it again and it was a GCD file whatever that is. I though it was QCP Rose
