Unlocking p900

Hi all, new user so please dont flame me!
I have a p900 locked to UK Orange network, I bought the t28 cable and got the v2.9 gold edition unlocking software, when I try to unlock it it asks me to turn on the phone but when I press power nothing happens.
If I ask it to read the codes it asks me to turn on the phone when I press the power button it saya I need to use the other button as my phone is a p900 does it mean another power button or the unlock button on the software?
Sorry if this sounds daft but I just dont know!
My Operating system is Windows XP

Make sure you have the correct T28 cable. Those programs do not work with an RST28. They need a special Service cable.
If you have the correct cable then check your serial port settings.
