Im going to order a v400 housing on ebay and let everyone know how it turns out....and im still looking for junk v-series phones....SOMEONES GOTTA HAVE ONE ! ! ! ! Ive been reading alot about led's and lcd's and shizzle. on the small exterior display...its an lcd screen backlit with a blue led or two. all that needs to be done is to get the old led out...and solder in some new ones...whatever color you want. it seems like its a pretty consistent voltage between red and blue leds...so i think it would work fine. i am pretty good at soldering...so hopefully i can get this to work. its also pretty much the same thing as far as the button illuminations...all id have to do is take out the white leds(v300) and swich in some new ones to get different colored buttons...red...blue...whatever. anyway...im going to be doing this so if anyone has input...lemme know |

When you close the phone, up near the top (where the antenna is) you will see one where the two pieces meet. GENTLY pry open that part of the flip. Be very careful as the camera is there. Once that part is apart....move your eyes to the other end of the flip, and pry this apart also. I used a small flathead...and made a few small scratches in my OEM housing doing this...but its the only way i figured it out. Moving on..... |

Two of the housings i have purchased (daydeal.com on ebay) have come with new sticky things to re-stick the speaker down on the phone. All you need to pry it back is a small flathead...i suppose a pn would work well also. BTW...im still looking for a digital camera to use for a little bit so i can get pics of the whole process. I dont own one myself...so its making things difficult!! -Nick |

Originally posted by ne5o55 I'll post my two cents in here. I just got my black and silver faceplates from eforcity, and I was changing them a few minutes ago. Here are a few tips: Be careful with the rubber pieces that you have to remove in order to access the screws. They are very small, and if you're in a rush or have no patience (like me) you can damage them easily. Fortunately for me I only damaged one, and only slightly, it's not noticeable if you're not looking for it. I used a small knife to remove them, I've seen people use needles, I think they'll work better. Also, they POP out, so be careful. When removing the faceplate, also be careful. After you remove the screws, the faceplate is on tighter than you would think. I was prying it off with a small screwdriver and I scratched my phone along the side a bit. Again, not noticeable if you aren't looking or if you aren't me. Anyway, I have the silver one on now, and it looks good. It's not a perfect match to the rest of the silver on the phone, but from a distance it's close enough. The bad thing about the faceplates of course is that they don't have the same rubbery soft feel as the original, and the battery cover doesn't have the "M" logo on it, but other than that they fit perfectly. When I get my digital camera back I will take pictures and show you the miniscule scratches. I just wanted everybody to know that you really really have to have a steady hand and a lot of patience. I did permanent damage just because I was rushing, don't make the same mistake. TAKE YOUR TIME. |
