The gear:[/U]
IBM ThinkPad T40
Windows 2000
Adiministrator rights
D-Link DBT-120 Bluetooth USB dongle
SE T616 cell phone

The carrier:
Rogers Wirless

The Place:
Montreal, canada

What I want:[/U]
To be able to use a dial-up connection on my laptop through T616 to connect to an Internet ISP.

What is wrong:
Actualy I managed to configure a dial-up connection which starts dialing, the T616 phone wakes-up, but after a couple of seconds, I got an error message that says "Opening port... Erorr 678: There was no answer (you can see the message in the
attached snapshot). Atherwise, the two devices connect and work properly, without problems. They are paired and aware
about each other.

My question for you:
Can somebody explain me what to do in order to make the bloody dial-up connection working ? I am not an IT guru, but
not a dummy either. I made a search through the previous topics and I found some comments related to a similar problem,
but I could not figure out what to do. Please help...

Thanks in advance,

cyberiq

I don't know about rogers wireless, but with cingular I had to have them add a wireless internet plan to my package before my T616 could be used a dial-up modem with them. I was getting the same messages as you until I talked with cingular again. good luck

u dont need no wireless Inet plans. you do need your phone line to support data calls (contact your provider). also u need to install t616 modem drivers on your pc, and it should work just fine.

yes, you need to ask to make data calls. for many providers this implies some sort of data/internet plan or package.

from the sound of his first post, it would seem that he has the drivers and everything setup right.
