trouble connecting to gagin!!!

Ok...this is my first time doing this....but let me start out by saying that I am usually technically savvy. For some reason, this does not want to work for me.

I'm on Windows XP, I got the a310 cable from Radio Shack, I downloaded all the files and the walkthrough from the yahoo group, followed everything step by step, and i'm still having troubles. I do not have Balpatch#9, though. I'm not sure what id does, nor can I find it.

Here's what happens:

I was able to install the drivers just fine. I connect my phone and check the Device Manager to make sure that the drivers are installed and working. Then I check the COM port in the Control Panel, which is showing COM3. I even made sure that the baud rate matched on my computer and my phone.

I bring up GAGIN, and it promts me to select my COM port, which I do, and I get an error saying that it can't open the COM port. I tried all of the others, even the patched ones for 5-8, and nothing. Any thoughts??

FYI....I figured it out. Thanks to J3ff over at Brewbackups for helping me out.

Anyway.....for those of you who have tried everything, and still can't connect to gagin.....try doing a factory reset on your phone. For some reason, I must have changed some setting on my phone that wasn't letting me connect. Works like a champ now
