I need VM Slider unlock codes so I can switch to verizon...i have searched the forums and they have not told me detailed enough instructions...verizon told me i had to unlock it before they could flash it (they will do it) but he cant do it b/c its against verizons employment contract..but if i can unlock it and bring it to them they will flash it with verizon software so i need step by step instructions on how to do this....is it just typing in the 111111 and changing the srv code to 000000 instead of 868666 or is there more to it? PLZ HELP...thanx in advance

yikes, everyone is so unwilling to help...

this is what I found by searching through the forums:

---CLIP---
If it's a Virgin Moblie phone follow these steps:
Log onto verizonwireless.com and enter in the new ESN

111111 [OK]

Programming [OK]
Enter Secuirity Code: 868666 [OK]

Srvc Sec. Code [OK]
change 868666 --> 000000 [OK]
[BACK]

Verizon needs it to be 000000 so that you can do Over The Air programming and PRL update. Remember to use 000000 and not 868666 as the SVC code next time you go back into this programming screen.

(NAM2 is used by Verizon, might need to enter the following info for NAM1 also):

NAM2 Info [OK]
MIN [OK]
[BACK 10 times to delete] 0000000658 --> 10-digits phone num [OK]
check MDN, should be the same
Home SID [OK]
find out your home SID from http://www.bridog.net/cellular/sid.txt
drop the leading 0's, ie 00030 -> 30
Extra NAM Info [OK]
CDMA NAM Info [OK]
Home SID/NID [OK]
enter in the same SID as above for both SID and NID

exit programming screen, press hang up

now dial *22801 option 1 to activate with verizon, it'll also update the PRL

now verify your PRL
##786 [TALK]

Verizon's PRL should show 42xxx, 50xxx, or 52xxx

Sprint PRL is 10xxx

---CLIP---

good luck making sense of it....

Typically on any forum people are unwilling to waste their time posting when it is clear that the original poster didnt bother to check if his question was previously answered.

Number1: dont visit the forum if u can recieve help and not give it. Number2: the instructions last posted was how to switch to verizon. 2 unlock is to simply change that sec. Code. What the guy @ the vzw store meant to say was that they cant flash it unless u have their service in this case, switching to them. U seem a bit confused about the terms, so read around...

I posted the answer to this question just days ago.

1) i did search the forums and found what i posted b4 2) i wasnt sure if that was all i needed to do 3) the guy the vzw store didnt mean i had to have service with the...i plan on getting service with them...i had a 30 minute conversation with the guy....4) i help all i can...i just dont have time to spend every waking moment at a cell phone forum...i have a job

Posted by: cratos

Im not sure if he was directing that at me or you, VMSlyder. Either way, unlock it with 868666 (if you havent used the phone yet) then change it to 000000. See if he will flash it after that. Good luck tho, in my experience Verizon has been ××××s at even the mention of the phrase "virgin mobile".

I still dont know who you were talking about. If it was me, I wasnt ×××××ing about helping. I was stating a reason that no answers were posted.

What are you looking for? You SID number? It should be stored in your phone already. What exactly are you trying to do?

I have my Verizon phone with me right now, do i look at that .txt for the number. (BTW that number is for houston, and i live in El Paso ). And since it's on the phone, where can i find it??

Posted by: MNetwork

Would unlocking the phone mean i can just use my phone with verizon??? Would flashing be required or is it just an option?

First question: yes

Second question: No flashing required, in fact I haven't seen a single post from someone saying they have been able to get it flashed by Verizon. Claims that the software isn't available yet, don't have the right cable yet, etc seem to be what everyone has gotten so far,

Can still unlock my phone and switch to Verizon after using it for a while?

If you mean can you use it on Virgin Mobile as a pay-as-you-go phone for a while and then go through the programming to get it on you Verizon account, I don't see why not. Switching it back to a pay-as-you-go phone may be tricky unless you write down all the settings you changed in the process of hooking it up to your Verizon account.

Do you mean to change all of the entries under the Home SID/NID section to the sid number from bridog? I've tried it both ways and also changed the settings under the NAM 1 section but all I get every time I try running the activation code is a "Call Could Not Be Completed" message. The PRL verification doesn't seem to be working, either. I did some searching and didn't find the same problem so I'm hoping someone can help me finish programming this phone over to Verizon.

Thanks!

Posted by: TheKJB

UPDATE: I managed to get the phone to connect to Verizon by using *22800 and options 1. The activation went great but when I called back to do the option 2 update the system told me that it couldn't program the phone right now. According to Verizon they're just having some issues with the system right now and to try it later.

But the phone works and that was the important thing. Thanks to everyone on this forum!

I am planning to do the unlocking very soon... but my only problem is I don't see an SID for my location on that web site... what do I use?

If you intend to use the slider as a replacement for a phone already on verizon, hunt around your current phone's menus to find the SID set for it... just use the same one with the slider. Or find a friend on Verizon and snag the SID number on their phone.

Posted by: MNetwork

Would you know how to get the SID off of a Motorola 120???

Posted by: pgens

Never owned one, but I'm sure someone in the moto group could tell you how to do it.

Posted by: MNetwork

I have another question... to switch to verizon... do I have to deactivate my virgin mobile account first? and when would I do the unlocking... before signing up for a service or after?

I assume with virgin mobile you wouldn't cancel it, just use up all the phone card minutes and don't get any more.

Here's the thing with Verizon... you'll have to sign a 1 or 2-year contract even if you already have a phone to use. My advice is to sign on with the cheapest phone verizon offers. Then get your online account set up so you can switch ESN's online, then do the unlocking to get your slider on the account.

Posted by: MNetwork

How easy is it to switch online? I have no clue how that goes... You can just switch the ESN online?

Yes, just sign up for the online billpayment/account managment. Its free, and can be done from their website. If you don't want to do that, I think you can call and give them the new ESN#, or go into the verizon store with your unlocked phone and they MIGHT do it for you, depending on the mood/knowledability of the staff on that day.

Do I have to deactivate my phone with Virgin Mobile to switch to verizon?? Will there be a conflict if I don't or does it not matter?

Not entirely sure about this, but VM phones are never really 'acticvated' since they are pay as you go. You buy them, and they are ready to use, you don't sign up with a contract or something like that like with other providers. So I think the answer to your question is no.

My slider phone I purchased from eBay and it seemed like it had been used before. I didn't do any deactivation or anything like that and I got it working with verizon no problem, using the method described in this forum.

Posted by: MNetwork

I was just wondering if you had to remove the phone from you Virgin Mobile account so that it doesn't conflict with Verizon. I'm going to try putting my phone on a verizon plan tomorrow probably. I'll let you guys know how it goes...

Posted by: makden

Did you unlock the phone yet?
Someone asked here how to find the SID # on Motorola 120 (and actually all new Motorolas) and here it is:
Press MENU and then type 073887*
Type the Security Code: usually 000000, OK
Scroll down to the Extended NAM, SELECT
Enter Subsidy Password (the SPC), 000000 OK
Scroll down and find CDMA System ID # ...
That's it, if you don't know the above codes and they were not all zeroes you are an SOL, sorry

Posted by: Conquered_haZe

I have the same phone and I was wondering if it is even possible to unlock it to Rogers.
