Here try this How-To for ringers...

Just unzip and review!

1) The CDM 8900 as far as I know only supports *.png and *.jpg images...

I believe that the image should only be like 145 x 128 pixels...

2) Answered in my previous post

Check this guys page out:

even when i put jpg, it wont put on phone--it says incorrect file type what am i doing wrong??

If you are just adding a new file, then there is no index with info about that file...

If you are overwriting one of the .png files, with a .jpg then it won't work because the index tells it to open a .png file...

Did you download Zaediex's image and try it?
You might want to try just overwriting one of your existing .jpg files with Zaediex's image...

If not, then use his makeindex program to add a new entry for your image...

As noted at the top of my page, makeindex does not work with Verizon. I suggest you hold on as 8900 support is being added to BitPim.

Try sending yourself something via www.vzwpix.com.

Ringtones = .mid only or .mp3 renamed to .mid . Keep the size under 70k

Pictures = .jpg or .gif or .png . Again try to keep them small 50k or so

animation = .gif keep this small as well.

vzwpix will tell you if you have an invalid file format or if the file is too large. Once you master that, then you can proceed to try e-mailing stuff to yourself phonenumber@vzwpix.com . Try not to use html formatted e-mails.

Also, it is easier once you have sent yourself a ringtone, picture, animation, and have the cable working, is to save a copy of the message. Then anytime you want to add additional ringtones, pictures, and animations you can just save a copy from the message under a different name then overwrite it using bitpim.

BitPim Ver 0.7-Test 6 does have support for the CDM 8900...

I think that it would be the Verizon one too as the author has a multitude of US Sanyo Phones listed as compatible...
Which leads me to that assumption.

There is even a Test-7 (but it only fixes some issues with Sanyo Phones)

"Started Audiovox CDM 8900 support"... the only thing that works right now is the filesystem view, nothing else.

I have a similar problem too. My ringtones (midi, mp3) are working fine, but not the wallpaper. I uploaded a .jpg file to the br->-im->img folder and then updated download_img.txt with makeindex. After rebooting the phone, when i tried to view the picture, it said "invalid file".

Anyone know why?

ps. I'm with Telus, btw.

The only file types that you can upload directly are PNG, and a propritetary Qualcomm format. Try converting your .jpg to a .png, and repeating the process.

as long as you have one midi you sent to yourself, just save it 2 or 3 times under different names. then using bitpim, just overwrite them with a new mp3 --> midi and it should work fine. I did this 2 or 3 times already and it works fine.
