Nokia 3100 PUK Code?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I recently picked up a Nokia 3100 phone and while trying to set it up so it would lock when the phone was turned on, it asked for my sim code. I tried 2 codes which I thought could be defaults which locked my phone and it's now asking for a PUK code. I'm with cellular one and called them, they're clueless. Does anyone know what the default PUK code is for a Nokia 3100?

Thanks-
Justin

Welcome to the forums, the PUK code is unique to each SIM and is not assigned a default number. The Personal Unblocking code is the last way to clear a PIN block. A PIN block occurs when you enter the PIN wrong 3 times in a row. The PUK code is stored on the SIM and is checked when you enter it manually after getting it from your provider.

You have 10 chances to enter it correctly, after the 10th try, the SIM card is permanently blocked. Is your 3100 directly from Cellular One?

He's right, the only way to get the PUK code is to ring up the network but the sim card has to be registered in your name and address otherwise they won't give it to you. You can still use the phone with another sim card though.

Is there a miss call reminder for this phone beside the icon??thanks.

No, I don't believe so since normally you'll find an entry under Call Logs as well but the icon refers to that entry.

Feel free to post your questions directly in the forums by clicking New Thread.

U have to call ur service provider, since ONLY they have the PUK. U will never guess the number.

That's exactly what I stated in the my 1st post. Some providers like Vodafone UK have an automated service through their CS system where you enter your phone number and get the PUK code automatically from the system 24 hrs/day.

Same thing happened to me the first time I tried to set up PIN Request on my 3595. When I called my provider for the PUK, I asked if I should write it down in case it happened again. I was told no, because the PUK changes and it would be different every time I called. In fact she even generated two numbers, just in case I had the same problem while I was on the phone with her.

This leads me to believe that what is stored on the SIM is not the actual code, but something else, like maybe a decryption key.

That could be but generally every time I got a SIM card here in Germany, the PUK1 and PUK2 was the same since they were included with the PIN1 and PIN2 documentation.

i just got the nokia 3120 and was messing around trying new things when they asked me for my PIN code..then it got to the PUK code
now my phone won't let me do anything else..and im clueless how to get the PUK...damn...

Posted by: TriBand81

Very simple, contact the provider whose SIM card you're using. They're the only ones who have access to the PUK codes.

Posted by: akikaki

YES!!
Well that was simple enough
I called up cingular and they were extremely gracious...they gave me the PUK and my phone is back in business, thanks TriBand81

You're welcome, most of the time that step will work for most providers.

I'm having the same problem. Now I've been holding with Rogers for 20 minutes.

Posted by: TriBand81

Unfortunately, they're only the ones who can give it to you if you bought the phone from them. A PUK code is SIM dependent.

Hey Caped - they think it's spelled "customers serve us"

You should almost always get your PUK1 and PUK2 code from you provider whenever you get a new sim card.

Usually when you try to enter a new SIM pin on a new SIM card, the default pin (1234) may unlock the the SIM, however, in some instances the phone will display SIM BLOCKED whenever you try to specify a new code. This has happened to me 3 times. 2 with Cingular and 1 with Tracfone.

The max # of times you can enter a SIM PIN is 3.
The max # of times you can enter a PUK code is 10. PUK codes are 7 digits (i think)...

Okay, I guess my account has been somewhat disabled. I wanted to start a new forum but it wouldn't let me... has anyone heard anything about the nokia morph? I'm looking for a release date.
