Can someone help please. I have a panasonic gd87 with it's firmware a16 and I want to upgrade to a53.
I have a serial Data Cable. I tried looking int the forum to see how it is done but I read so many deferent topics that I don't know where to start.
Can some tell me what to do from a to z.
I down loaded Winmodo,Crack2d,Cb2000 and edittool.

I tried to run Edittool with my gd87 but to no avail,I even tried to block pin 4 and 10. It still tells me connection timed out.

So can someone help me with this matter?

Thanks.

1. Go download the upgraded version and a language pack
i) A55: http://ilcaso.interfree.it/GD87-X70.htm
ii) You'll need the right language pack for that though... i don't know if it's inside the zip...

i have A53 right now and it's language pack is G1D87L61.rel so go, search and find those 2

Open winmodo:

1. Press the language button and select the language pack you downloaded. This should be about 1mb
2. Press the main button and load the upgraded version of software for the mobile (e.g A55). This should be about 16mb
3. Press the boot button, select your COM Port of your cable and Baud Rate: 115200.
4. Select the mobile model (GD87) and "Start Download" **** Turn off your mobile first.

5. It will tell you that it's waitting for a response so press the Red button on your mobile for 1/2 second twice... It will then start the procedure... Don't do anything then.. Don't play with your pc... Don't touch the cable... just sit and watch. It will take 15minutes. When it's over it will say: "successful or completed"

6. Take it of the cable and NOW block the pins 4 and 10... Both on the mobile and the cable (for safety). Do this carefully ok?

7. Start CB2000: Select model GD87
8. Press File, Setup and choose your cable's COM Port (the same with WinMoDo)
9. Press ok and now press "Handset Power" button.

10. If everything went ok it will say test mode on!

Now watch carefully... When i updated my phone i didn't do these:

11. Press Data, Write Handset, Settings, Function Clear (Erase Memory). Then you close CB2000. Remove the cable and restart your phone

I didn't do step 11 i forgot to read it... Everything went ok though... i didn't have to do it... If you have problems only with step 10 then do 11 too... But i don't think it's necessary...

Anyway hope i helped

I believe if you really look close on the front page of this forum you will be able to get the answer. By the way, here is the thread to your question.

front page wa??

thx for the link, i got the winmodo program now, which one is the latest firmwire? what files do i need? how do i flash it?

Posted by: GT-[R]

kk i downloaded the 2 files that athina posted, is that all i need?

i believe one of them is the firmwire and the other language... can i just flash the firmwire or do i need to use the langauage file as well? what cable do i need?

Gt-R you are ready to flash now... any cable would do... usb or serial.

Make sure you connected the wire well first

Press those 3 big buttons in WinMoDo so that they become green. Select the language pack you downloaded at the first textbox and the firmware on the second. Then choose your mobile model and baud rate 115200 and the com port of your cable. Close your mobile and start downloading. Then when you press start just press your mobile's red button twice (the one you switch on and off your mobile). I repeat... two times that is. And 0.5 second each (half a second). Now wait 15 minutes. Don't do anything with your pc... just sit and watch. After 15-20 minutes it will say that it finished. Take the wire off and block the pins (4-10 from the left to the right) under your mobile with a tape or something that you can think of. Like this:

[OOO-OOOOO-OOOO]

O = free pin
- = Blocked pin

Make sure you blocked them well and not the others as well ok? Connect the wire WELL and make sure its connected well. Open CB2000, Press File, Select Model and select your model. Then File, Setup and select your wire's com port (same as winmodos). Press ok and now press "Handset Power". If everything went ok your mobile is ready. Good luck

Btw these are the instructions for GD87... i'm not sure if they work with X70 ok? Remember if you do something wrong... your mobile is dead forever. If you have GD87 and you downloaded X70's firmware don't do it as well.

Posted by: GT-[R]

wow so complicated

which is why i didnt want to flash my gu87 in the first place lol

thanks alot =) has anybody successfully flashed their x70 before? so you HAVE to use the cb2000 after winmodo ?

Posted by: FrozenIcE

It's not really that hard... boy was i scared when i did it Well you just have to take the final decicion... then three steps!

1. Update with WinMoDo.
2. Close those 2 pins
3. Start it with CB2000

You're done!

I have a GD87 with A19 firmware.
What differnce does it make changing to newer firmware?
I have no problems with it at the moment so is it just best to leave it as it is.

Thanks in advance

Matt

I have an A55 firmware in my GD87. I have found that with the new firmware the battery's talk time improved and that the menu scrolling is much faster. In fact the camera clicking sound had been disabled. More last thing is that with the new firmware I have 200 extra storage for my text messages. Think about it. 15 text messages storage compared to 200 storage space with the old firmware.

Thanx, just getting more message space is a good enough reason.
I presume I just need to buy a data cable now and upgrade it

Posted by: mavericke

Yes you can. You can get the data cable from ebay which is relatively cheap compared to the price I paid (£25) which came with a data suite.
Good luck then!3

Cable is on the way £10 including p&p on ebay, and a new housing for the same price.
Software downloaded ready to go.
Is it safe to go from A19 straight to A55, or go up in a couple of stages?

Best of all with A53_noSound and some softs > flash editor / biosexplorer and winmodo you can customise every inch of your interface...koool

Posted by: ExcelPremium

no sound when u take pictures with the camera?(Shutter noise? when u upgrade to A55??

how exactly do u do it? i bought my cable just recently? can anyone tell me/teach me the steps?

i think mine is A19(Just to be sure?) how do u check what firmware ur on? because i got my GD88 not long ago..so.. it might be newer?

Posted by: mavericke

To check your firmware:
Switch off your phone - switch on your phone again and then quickly press *#9999# before your phone receive your network provider signal.

You can have a GD88 without camera shuttle sound so long as you have a modified firmware. It does not matter if it is A22 or higher so long as it is a modified firmware without the camera sound. The latest firmware is A55.

If you want to do it, please do a general search for the steps to flash your phone.

Good luck!

Posted by: ExcelPremium

umm.. it's not exactly working... how exactly do u do it?

i pressed it and pressed send and it gaved me a "Unknown Application"
