What provider do you use? What settings do you have right now?
Have you tried the settings configuration tool at the SE support site for the P900? (go to www.sonyericsson.com -> global support)

im looking at the SE site right now...

m trying to figure out the ip settings etc..

i see the wap but only for Tmo???

SFgal,

Where did you buy the P900 from and how much did you pay for it?

Thanks,
DBW

Posted by: SFgal

i bought that from SE site, it was $550 open box...

i have a friend who works in SE corporate headquarters (phil) branch it took approx 3 weeks to get to me.. but i had to virtually twist his arm and bribe him.. , for me to get that discount.. :laughs:

SE doesn't support Cingular configuration online as SFgal observed.

There are tons of posts here on HoFo about setting up the P900 for Cingular.

If you're still having trouble, post your settings and I'm sure we can get you up and running. Of course, you must have WI or WIX enabled on your account.

MY RANT: NO MAC support....

This phone is more expensive than my Purse and Shoes combined... with no MAC support... arrggghh

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.0; Symbian OS; SonyEricsson P900; 305) Opera 6.30 [en])

isn't macs BT implementation great for theP900?

Posted by: sempai

I don't know what the poster was speaking to; I use my P900 with Macs all day every day.

The firmware update doesn't work with a Mac, but that's Sony at work.

Sony has never supported anything on a Mac AFAIK -- it's why I'll never own another Clie. After the second one and still being told to fsck off by Sony whenever there was a problem...

John's settings -- that first link, should work perfectly. What problems are you having? Since you mentioned having copied the original entries from a Treo 600, is it the same SIM? Is this current account activated for WIX?

If you could say what's happening when you try to go online, it would help -- so we could help. Triple check all your settings, it's more than easy to get a stray period (.) or some incorrect entry in your settings. Been there, done that. Also, those entries on John's site are case sensitive. So when it shows ALL CAPS, it must be ALL CAPS.

What's a MAC?

sempai...
r using jaguar or panther, it wont sync on my powerbook.. panther platform...
- r u using isync using BT??

LArryH

yes the same sim card
my acct. i have to check if its WIX..

i copied exactly what was on the site..

the error i get is:
Access Denied

I will try again tom at work.. or i might go to a cingular store.. and hope for the best

Check this link for MAC

Posted by: LarryH

Sounds as if you're either having GPRS problems "in the hood" or you're not activated for WIX. I wish you luck at the Cingular store -- they're usually not helpful with unsupported phones.

Posted by: SFgal

LarryH u are absolutely right..

i went to a cingular store this morning near my work.. and guess what.. that was the very first time they saw a P900....

and i dont have a wix plan...

Posted by: LarryH

Sort of explains why none of the settings work!

Posted by: SFgal

i just pulled up my cingular plan..

this is the plan that i have...

family talk-text messaging ,wireless internet express

update:
called cingular and while i was put on hold for about 15 mins. or so and passed like 4 times to a diff. csr.. they said they have sombody who can help me but have to go to that store....its a good thing its quite near me..

UPDATE....

im a happy camper now.....

after going to a cingular store and stayed for about 2 hours for them to figure what was going on with the phone.. there was like 3 csr's attending to me... the 3rd csr w/c was the store manager just had one bright idea to try and change my sim card and alas.. It was my sim, i dunno what was wrong with it, but it worked.

to larryH and Midnight Sun Thanks!!!!

I can assure you the P900 is fully functional with Mac OS X in every way possible. It's just that the CD's that come with the P900 have nothing to do with the Mac whatsoever, so you can safely toss them away. All you need is already built-in Mac OS X, using 10.3.3 now and never been happier

A few things I regularly do on my PowerBook:

* Connect through GPRS/Bluetooth as an anywhere internet at speeds of around 35-45 kbps. Not too bad when waiting for the kids to come out of school, as I'm on it right now! Setup was in a couple of minutes using OS X's BT assistant and NO ADDITIONAL SOFTWARE OR MODEM SCRIPTS!

* Sync contacts/phonebook pictures/calendars/ todo's between the two using iSync.

* Transfer files/pictures/MP3's/videos (mp4's) to and from the P900 using BT file Exchange

* Impress others with SallingClicker; you know this program, don't you?

The best thing about Apple and SonyEricsson is that both are using standards that communicate flawlessly with each other. Yes, the P900 is more expensive than probably one's own children, but it sure is sweet!

Posted by: SFgal

yup u are right symbiatico... and steve jobs was also right when he said-- sync flawlessly with bluetooth in mac computer

i was pulling my hair when i first got the phone and was trying to sync... not knowing the only trick was to disable my firewall.

SallingClicker rocks..... and there is alot of amazing programs outhere...

Can you get "Browse Device" under bluetooth to work properly? On my T610 it bring up various folders on the phone. With my P900 it connects but doesn't show any folders. I can only "send" not "get". I want to dump MPEG4's onto my memory stick via bluetooth, but without the folders showing in the viewer it tries to put the movies into the main memory.

Oh yeah, salling click plus Proximitysensor is awesome.

Trikes,-- have u tried disabling ur firewall?

at first i had the experience... but when i tried to turn off the firewall it worked..
