I completely unlocked and reprogrammed my Virgin Mobile Slider to work on the Verizon network. Everything works including the wireless web BUT, I just need to be able to download ringtones to my phone from the Verizon site. I don't have and I am not planning on buying a PC cable for the phone for some time. Phone still have Virgin graphics and I don't have the Get It Now icon on my phone to go get the tones. Any ideas?

I understand now about entering a URL and linking to the tone fine BUT.........what format are the tones in on my Kyocera Slider? I'm getting a 404 error so either it's a block by Verizon or maybe the midi is in the wrong format. Thought I read somewhere that the extension is like, .kws or something.

1. you cannot download to ther anything that is not from your service provider without a cable

2. why dont you have verizon flash the thing so you have the get it now and other features that virgin excludes

3. Maby if you added the get it now url to your contacts you could access it that way

First thing I did was go to the tech guys at the local Verizonwireless store. Waited in line for 30 minutes only for this idiot to tell me I can't unlock my VM Slider and how my phone was useless. Come to think of it, maybe I should go back over and demand that they program it just so I can show them that I did unlock/reprogram my phone. But they're probably going to say the firmware from Virgin is unremoveable.

As was explained to me by one tech. It's not a question of whether or not its technically possible to update firmwares on different providers phone - it is possible, quite easily. However, the issue is with licensing. Agreements are made with the providers that only that provider's firmware will be applied to a particular block of ESNs..

When a verizon provider flashes your non verizon phone with a verizon firmware, they are in effect violating this agreement.

I don't know how true this statement it, but in theory it makes sense (as far as software/firmware licensing goes... that a certain firmware is licensed for a particular batch of esn's).

Any of you in the know care to chime in and further explain this?

Wirelessly posted (Se 47 slider: SE47/1.0.00 UP.Browser/4.1.26l UP.Link/5.0.2.9)

That makes sense if only more people didn't care about company policy but do you thing you could flash it your self with the pst and it would work he you had the firm ware

A friend of mine bought a VM Slider and it won't work with Verizon. They bought it on ebay and the seller said it would work with Verizon. He claimed it was a verizon phone. Now that she has the phone verizon says it's useless to connect. She paid $115 for the phone. Does anyone know how to unlock the phone to work with verizon and if verizon will even transfer her service to this VM Slider phone?
