Hi, can anyone please help me with this problem i've got. I've just purchased a USB data cable from ebay, the link for the product:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....&category=14417

I've loaded up the handset manager, and the driver for this particular cable, everything seems to be ok. The driver is located in the device manager situated in the ports, under the name of MAT USB-to-serial bridge (com6)

The problem is that the phone isnt connecting to the handset manager, reading at the bottom of the software main screen as 'Trying to connect to the handset...'

Please Please help!

software wants to use Comm 5, change your usb cable to comm 5 and you should be fine

You are not right!
If there is a USB-cable this software truly determines COM-port to which the cable is connected.
This hardware problem on USB-cable. At me the same cable. I too sometimes have problems with this cable on MB Intel D845PESV, on Intel D850MV this problem did not arise. Probably it is connected with USB-2.0. I some times connected and disconnected a cable, yet did not achieve the answer of phone in HyperTerminal.

goodie for you. It worked solving my problem. It would not work until I changed the comm port in the hardware manager

Hi, thanks for your reply, the problem now is that I do not have a comm5 port. I have 4 usb ports - Comm3, comm4 - comm6 and comm7. There does not seem to be a comm5. ?????

When I load up the software a warning vomes up indicating me to ' Disable cell broadcast message reception on the handset '. Has this anything to do with my problem?

Could the comm5 port not be one of the serial ports?

Posted by: lost_rebel

you need to change the comm port of the USB cable to be comm 5, you do that in windows hardware manager.

Hi, thanks again for your replys.

No further forward I'm afraid.

Changed Com3 to Com5, at the time Com5 indicated that it was in use, is this normal??

The setting to this com5 is

Bits per second = 9600
Data bits = 8
Parity = None
Stop Bits = 1
Flow Control = None

Selcting advanced brings you onto a screen indicating

Use FIFO buffers (requires 16550 compatible UART = checked (selected)

Recieve Buffer = High(14)
Transmit Buffer = High(16)

Com port: number - Com5

Does all the above look ok, can you compare it with yours please as the problem may lay here.

Thanks.

software should adjust the comm port settings. I have described all I did and it works fine. BTW can you use your cable with cb2000?

Hi, There still no change with my situation. I've temporally given up. I think it could be the cable, where do you buy your cable from? Is it the cable that charges your phone as well as connects it to the PC?

I bought mine from Ebay, from the below link.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....&category=14417

Please let me know if you discover how to get it working

Thanks

I think it's not the cable because mine works with CB2000 1.43 and not with handset manager.

Posted by: nx2k

what's CB2000?
where can i get that?
maybe i'll give that a try

broken link

Hi, i had exactly the same problem. bought a usb cable off ebay and kept getting "trying to connect to the handset" even with panasonics official software. The problem is with the usb driver that comes with the cable. If you go to this link :
http://www.mobileaction.com.tw/English/solutions-ir.htm and download their software and driver you will have no problem as it will make your pc believe you have the official cable. You will have to uninstall the old driver and completely remove the device first. Believe me this will work!

if u have used the software before, and one day it just stopped, uninstall the software and reinstall it. worked for me

still doesn't work
downloaded the software and the driver files on that sight can't be installed with the cable, so it actually made it worse, now i have a usb with no driver that shows up in my properties. it says second release, do u by any chance have teh first release? maybe those driver files work.
if so, can u send to me, and i'll try that.

Yeah I've had exactly the same problem with a cable I bought off ebay. I've just emailed the vendor complaining and asking what to do so I'll get back to you if they have something good to say...

Posted by: marti866

That might help yes, why not.

GET THIS PEOPLE!!! I got one of my friends to try this cable and software out on his PC, as he has the same phone............ and it worked.

Why the hell wont it work on mine????

Please, somebody out there help, this is driving me up the wall!

Posted by: Bekity

Ok the vendor got back to me with their 'solution'. this is what they put...

"Yes, the cable is suit for X70. We have try it before, so will try our best to help you to solve the problem. Firstly, please check the cable driver. (Note: this is very important, because the wrong cable driver will cause you can't connect the phone). The cable driver is Prolific USB to Serial (Not MAT USB to Serial). Is the cable driver install successfully! If you don't mind, please copy the screen to us."

Well then, firstly, the broken english does not phase me , and also I don't have a clue how to install it as the other USB cable, I tried installing it myself from a list but still no avail.

Please get back to us if you found the above worked somehow.

yaaaaay i've fixed my handset manager! the company emailed me the updated drivers. I had to uninstall the mat usb-to-serial bridge and install the usb manually. i had to go to have disk and pick the new drivers i had been sent and it installed the cable as 'prolific usb-to-serial cable'. it installed as com3 so i had 2 change it to com5 so that the handset manager could connect, and it has!

i have put the new drivers online so you lot can get them
