Some MP3 Ringtones you can Download

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

If you follow this link I have made some MP3 ringtones that are perfect for cellphone use. Feel free to download as many as you like. Just right-click on the name of the song you want and choose "save as".

http://webpages.charter.net/jchoward/MP3_Ringtones/

**I have allready renamed the file extensions from .mp3 to .mid for easy uploading to the phone.**

Most of the songs are between 30 secs and one minute long.

If you want to request a song, just leave a message and I will try to get it up on the site asap.

I have changed the server from Geocites to a different one due to Geocities getting overloaded within 15 mins of posting. If anyone has problems accessing the site, let me know.

I saved one of these to my computer then emailed it to my phone but all I got was a message telling me that it was not supported. I didn't use vzwpix site I just used outlook. Maybe that was the difference. I don't know. Could these files be too large?

biggie ringtones?

something good for incoming text messages, maybe the ringtone from when you get an AOL IM??

or you got mail ringtone for voicemail?

To change the .mp3 to .mid you have to first go into "My Computer", then click on the "Tools" menu at the top and go down to "Folder Options". Click on the "View" tab at the top and find where it says "Hide extensions for knows file types". Make sure that the check box next to it is empty (don't check it). Then find your .mp3 files and rename them the same way you would rename any other file. Windows will give you an error, but just ignore it.

These files are way to large to send over regular email or using Verizon. The files average about 250kbs. The most that can be sent over email is 30kbs. If you need a cable, i would highly recommend going to US Cellular and buying their cable they are selling for the 6000. They are selling it for $15. I have tried it out, and it works on the 6000 and the 5450 well.

I have uploaded a "You've got Mail" file to the server. The file is a .qcp, and not a .mid. To upload the file to your phone using BitPim, first go to the "Filesystem" tab and click the plus to expand the system. Then go down to "mms" and expand that. Next expand "sound" and you should see all your songs that you have uploaded to the phone. Right-Click on "sound" and choose "New File". Choose the "Mail.qcp" file you downloaded and hit "open". BitPim will upload the file to your phone. You will need to reboot your phone before you will be able to see the file.

Thanks but I also tried emailing one to my phone from outlook that was only 7.2KB but I never got it? What could have happened there?

You can also record your own voice memos and use them as ringers. This only works on the picture phones as far as I know. Here are the steps for doing so:

1. Record a voice memo.
2. Go into the "Camera" menu and choose "Send Photo Msg ".
3. In the "address" field, type 999.
4. Click on the "Sound" field and choose "Voice Memo".
5. Choose the voice memo that you want to make a ringtone.
6. Send the message, but while it's still sending, hit END on the keypad. This will cancel the transfer.
7. Go into the "Camera" menu again and go into the "Photo Outbox" menu.
8. Open the message you just canceled and choose "Options" on the bottom of the screen.
9. Choose "Save Sound".

The voice memo you recorded will now be saved in the Media part of the phone, and you can set it as a ringer.

Im not quite sure what could have gone wrong there. I use Alltel as my service provider, so I am not very knowledged when it comes to Verizon. I would recommend just getting the data cable though, since you will never be able to send files over 30kbs unless you have the cable.

Also, the MP3 ringers only work on the picture messaging phones. They will not work on phones such as the 4400.
