Is there any way to silence the ringer but not the alarm?

The title pretty much says it all...
I want to use my phone as an alarm clock, but I don't want it to ring if one of my friends happens to call me at 4 AM. I was wondering if there is something I can do to have the phone only make a noice when the alarm goes off, and not make a noise if i recieve a text message or phone call. When I set the phone to either "silent" or "ringer off", the alarm does not function.
Any help would be greatly appriciated, thanks.

Bump...but I'm guessing that there's no way to do it.
