Correct files and sequence to flash/update T68is to generic T68i?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Hi, I have a T68is from ATT that I bought from USA and want to use in Norway. I was able to correctly unlock it using the Div 8.4 + terminator. That went okay just by reading the lock code off it with the Div 8.4 and then manually inputting it.

I would now like to:
- debrand the T68is to just a plain generic T68i without all the ATT presets, WAP settings etc
- update it to whatever the latest firmware is that the T68i can have
- have a option of English or Scandinavian menu and operating language/letters

Can anyone tell me
1) exactly what files do I need
2) what step by step sequence to execute this correclty?

Thanks in advance!

DIV is known to kill the bluetooth on T68i phones.

And chocolate is known to make your balls shrink...

I've upgraded/unlocked 3 T68(i)'s no problem with DIV.

You need:
- Main flash AVR file (in your case, EU4 version for English and Scandinavian languages support)
- Modem flash ARM file (no regional difference)

Make sure both files are the same version. Latest is R8A015.

Specify the two files in DIV, and start it up.

As for debranding, you would need a clean GDFS file. You might try the GDFS file used to upgrade the T68 to T68i (I've used it on a T68 but not T68i). Some settings, like GPRS settings, stay on though.

Have fun

hehehhehe, Dont be an idiot. Just because it worked for you on 3 phones does not mean it will work on every phone.

DIV is known to damage bluetooth on many t68i phones. This is a fact. It works about 80% of the time, but if you damage the bluetooth, you probably wont be able to fix it.

Another problem that may occur is a drop in standby time. Peoples standby time drop from 250 to 50.

People have been discussing this in HOFO for over 2 years now.

Wow, ominous warnings without any details and name calling too. You're a piece of work !

In cases where Bluetooth stops working (disabled not broken), there are flash files to restore that too.

As for standby time, mine all show 250+ hours.

I did a search for T68 and any flash problems it could have. I only found info saying that some people had problems upgrading it to R7A (DIV not specified). And where TF did you get 80% anyway LOL? I even read a SE service point guy say that ericsclient can damage your bluetooth (w/R7A). So I guess we should never upgrade out phones, right?

I think it's clear that you are the one here who is speaking out of his ×××. You make it sound as if tons of people have been discussing this over 2 years but that's BS too (only a few threads with isolated incidents). If you have nothing constructive to say then I suggest you shut up. I mean, come on, look at your post. Are you suggesting no one use DIV to flash T68i's? You just seem to be speaking of third parties, have you ever flahsed a T68i? Or are you just one of the many here that post false info. Just give us a link that says that DIV has a problem flashing T68i's to R8A.

Sorry for the rant, but I am getting sick of these posters who post their BS without having any clue.

Peace.

Many people here know about the bluetooth and standby problems that happen from hack tools such as div. You got lucky with 3 phones.

This time last year, the forums were filled with people who had the bluetooth standby problems. Many of them got the problem after upgrading at the stamp store at the pacmall. Guess what tool they used?

Posted by: hehehhehe

Ok so you've never done it yourself and have no idea what you are talking about. Why do you keep posting? You are repeating your previous post, as if it strengthens your argument. I already said I know of isolated incidents of people getting problems with R7A (you probably don't even understand what that is).

Filled with people? Few incidents, yeah, BTW you can click on the Search button above to see them. I have, and there aren't that many complaints.

I repeat:
Just give us a link that says that DIV has a problem flashing T68i's to R8A.

Please stop your clueless posts.

Skagen,

Any luck with your debranding? I too just ordered a former ATT T68i exactly for the purpose of bringing it to Norway in June. I know it's unlocked, but I don't know if it's "debranded". I kind of doubt it, but you never know.

Couldn't one get the phone flashed at a SE store/service center in Norway?

Also, off-topic, I was planning on getting a prepaid Telenor Djuice card for the month I'm there. Any opinions?

Mvh,

Dag.

I unlocked the one I have in Norway myself.

I have the regular Telenor prepaid, not the Djuice. What I have is is OK but very expensive for voice calls (3 kroner per minute), I dont have the detials of Djuice prepaid at hand.

Bear in mind that incoming calls are always free - thats the way they do it. And people use SMS/text message heavily since its cheaper. If you are not comfortable with the typing, you may endup doing a lot of voice calls!

Maybe you could take some time to look at Chess.no (reseller) and netcom.no as well to see what they have for prepaid options. May not be much difference - they dont really have much competition really between them.

Also be sure to double check what kind of intl roaming options you have on a prepaid card. You may need that if you go to Denmark, Sweden Norway etc. I think Telenor includes Scandinavian roaming at normal home rates. But the others may not give you that.

Also take a look at the mobile phone discussin forum at www.hardware.no and just ask there if you have questions. Those guys all speak English, so feel free to write in English if you want.
