... and all other SE and E/// phones before this one. It makes no sense why SE would decide to take this out of the P900 but as far as I can tell, they did.

I had all these contacts from a non-BT (and non-syncing) phone so I saved all of my contacts to the SIM. Now I got a P900 and I want to load all of that data into the P900.

Outlook is outside of the picture.

i understand that, but if you're going to use outlook anyways...

Actually even on a day to day basis, if I wanna use one phone during the day (the P900 'cus it's business like ;-]) and another phone when I go clubbing (the T610 or some small camphone 'cuz i'm a playa) and yet another when I go out for a rough day of sailing (so a rugged Nokia 6310i) I think I'd wanna be able to just "save all contacts to SIM" before switching instead of having to go to my PC and sync. I mean it's not that I'd need to do it all the time but after a busy day of networking and getting digits, it would be simpler to be able to do a save all, swap the SIM and be on my way.

For older phones also, the SIM is the only way to pass numbers through.

Use IR
j/k

use the contact manager and move from SIM to phone

The original Q though was how to copy all of the contacts on the phone to SIM in one step. Every phone I've ever owned had this menu item except the P900.

The contact manager does not (seem to) give us an option to do this.

The reverse might also be of interest (copy all from SIM to phone) and it looks like you can do it. When in the Contacts app, change the drop down category to SIM, and a menu entry will be in the Edit menu that says Copy all to contacts. This answers DesiBoyWonder's question.
