I fRiEd my A56

Guys I fried my a56 when trying to "convert" it. What do I do!?

Depends on your definition of "fried"...
Did you mean "Wrong software" error, where the phone displays this message for a split second then shuts itself off?

If so, just repeat the entire A56>C56 conversion process. Make sure the steps are followed exactly. Also, you gotta reload your EEPROM blocks (.eep file) from the original A56.

The Wrong Software occurred on my phone because I patched my phone's software, which it didn't like, so I had to reload with original C56 software.

Keep me posted on what happened! Hope all goes well! Otherwise, you can always use the A56 battery as a backup for your M55.

Well first the light would turn on for a fraction of a second. Then I tried flashing A55 software (and I'm using an a56, is this bad) and it just doesn't turn on it.

I only bought it today so I'm pretty sure that I'll be able to exchange it. I don't think it's spoiled, do you? I'll still get a new one though.

I think I lost all interest in converting it now.

Why did you flash A55 software knowing that it's incompatible in the first place?? This issue has been mentioned before in earlier posts in the A56>C56 thread. Of course it won't work!

Good luck with your exchange... I hope you make up a good enough reason for them to believe you...

Don't be so discouraged about your failure; just give it another go, but follow the steps properly. The Russian PDF is pretty much idiot-proof and if followed step-by-step, you should end up without problems. Remember to use the EEPROM blocks from the original phone software.

PM has been replied. The deep noise is the "oops, I fried my phone" sound. But, try again with C55 mode, and if all fails, use my EEPROM blocks.

Nothing seems to be working. I'm just going to exchange it tomorrow, but I'm not going to modify it. I don't need it to be modified anyways since this phone is for my mom. She wouldn't even notice the difference. She panicks when the doorbell rings on a TV show...

Sorry to hear your conversion didn't work... man, something must have been quite screwed up... then again, my first A56 (built in China) had to be exchanged as well due to a software glitch (on A56 firmware) that would lock the phone up completely and won't allow me to even pick up calls. Perhaps it was due to the extreme cold that week in Calgary, or perhaps it was another problem. I got it exchanged for another one (German built).

AFAIK, there aren't any newer firmwares for the A56, at least not readily available online. The most recent from Fido is v.32.

Even if you aren't converting the A56, at least unlock it when you get it, and put some cooler wallpapers and screensavers on! The stuff that comes with the phone is just too boring!
