Network/Circuit busy symptoms question [stay ontopic this time!!]

I got a couple of question regarding the symptoms for network/circuit busy:

What does it mean when I get "beep beep beep beep beep beep" when I try to dial out with my phone on Fido?

What does it mean when I get "do-da-da do-da-da" when I try to dial out with my phone on Fido?

What does it mean when I try phoning another Fido phone. I can hear the waiting tone once and then I get transfered to voicemail.

It means you should get a real phone from a real provider

if you get fast three beeps, then your phone could be blacklisted because it was reported stolen, if you are having issues with reception or Network Busy, switch your provider to Rogers if you want Gsm or choose Bell or Telus if you are happy with their phone selection.

Solution = switch?

I don't think so!

It might be a better idea to call Fido customer support.

How is simply switching a good idea!?

Thank you for your helpful comment.

I was having trouble making a call with my imaginary phone through my imaginary provider in the basement of UBC SUB.

I know I couldn't find Rogers 1900MHz signal down there. Does your real phone get signal down there with your real provider?

Give customer service a call.

Hound customer service about it. I did for a month in my area and finally it's fixed in my home/office.

They don't seem to care that much about fixing areas unless they get enough complaints, and I imagine that's how they prioritize which areas they upgrade first.

There are a few pockets of places that are troublesome and we need to let Fido know about them to fix it.

You could always switch providers, but if you do I would choose Rogers over any of the others because GSM is superior in many ways, and Rogers has been great for me as a mobile line (no network busies in over a month in the GVA ).

Unfortunately, I don't go there often enough to justify the time needed to call customer service.

Xirc: I am very irritated by the fact that you response to my general technical question with a predictable remark. I would appreciated that you try to stick to the topic.

too many users not enough network, the beep beep beep means the network cannot accomodate you at this time, the phone should actually should return System Busy. and the high pitched doo da da, is the network can accomodate you, but there's no free line available to complete the call, that's the all circuits are busy now... message.

But SUB and the bus loop is a high traffic area especially since it's one of the few locations at UBC for quality reception and users can still move around freely.

Automatic redial, the new high-valued feature for Fido in Vancouver, too bad it doesn't work for all circuits are busy.

Thanks for the explanation. I'll see what error message the phone gives me....

I wish to note that I think the outdoor reception of Fido in UBC is fine unless I happen to be stand next to a building..... (in the side opposite to the direction of the tower)

GSM850 does not resolve all circuits are busy.

GSM850 will help all circuits are busy if you are talking about radio channels. if you are talking about the connections from the cell switch to the wireless network, then no, gsm850 wont help

Does anyone in Richmond ever notice that Richmond Freeway has appalling reception with Fido (when circuits are available)? Like you can barely hear the other party despite fine reception (tested in Field one time and had reasonably acceptable dBm in spots, but still garbled up).

Ya.......It's been like that for years there. Dogy phone network has no near by cell antenas on the E-W Hwy in Rmd. But GSM850 network is rock solid praticaly many places in GVA.
