Possible to Remove Date/Service Provider on Main Screen?

No. This is something most people have been trying to do forever now. The provider name is not something you can remove. The best you can hope to do is to use the theme creator and make both the words and the outline the same colour and choose a background it'll blend into. This applies to other SE phones as well. I've just given up.....
I believe on some Nokias you can though...but I'm not sure since I've never had one.

Yup, my Nokias do not have the operator logo, so I was hoping that I can do the same to my P800. Thanks for the reply.
