Emails in inbox fills p900 up

Hello all,

I setup my messaging account on P900 to subscribe to my Yahoo pop3 account and set the intervals for automatically downloading. It then downloaded all 2135 email headers in my yahoo inbox, which leaves me with 1.2 mb internal storage on my p900. Then, the phone is acting really slow so I tried to go into messages to delete them but it always crashed half way and it never able to delete the message from the pop3 server anyway. So I just go to delete the yahoo messaging account which free up my internal memory up to 10.1mb.

I want to ask whether there is any way just to download the messages today? or just the first like 100 messages in the inbox and not in the bulk?

Unfortunately the Mail program that SE has stuck upon us is not very flexible at all and as far as i know, cannot do anything but retrieve all. it does not allow you to download a subset, to mark emails read without downloading it, to purge by any criteria or any other feature we'd all expect from the very basic email program.

And there seems to be no one who has felt the urge and had the skillset to write a replacement mail app for our favorite phone.
