I know I posted this in the other manufacturers section but I would like a better response and I dunno where most of the NEC owners hang out too.
Looking for a clamshell with 850 band that isn't a Motorola, so I would like some feedback on the NEC 525 for those who have/owned one.
Some info I am looking for is:
-Size
-Exterior and internal screen quality
-Earpiece quality
-Camera quality
-Loudness of ringtones
-Does it support Voice/MP3 tones?
-Bugs?
-Battery Life
-Degree of Customization
Thanks!

Size...tad bulky...about the size of an Altoids can in height, length but a little skinnier in width.
Exterior screen isnt too bad, got a clock, picture customization, date, battery and reception bars. Acts as a 2nd screen when using the camera so u can take pictures of yourself!
Interior screen is amazing! Very big, very high quality.
Ear piece is okay, sometimes too quiet. The hands free is trash, get rid of it and buy a decent quality 2.5mm universal headset!
Camera quality...

loudness depends on ring tones.
i hear it could support MP3 using AMR?
Bugs...not really bugs, just quirks. The menu system needs more work, theres some tedious steps and some bone headed steps that leave you going...duuuuude nokia's menu system is so much better then this!
battery life is about 5 hours (i got almost 5 hours out of it!)
customization is basically pictures, and ring tones. Color themes are set (you only get four, black, blue, purple and green) Other things you can customized is by caller. Each caller can get one of 7 LED colors, personal ringtone, personal picture and personal group (out of 30).
Data cable helps transfer and sync with outlook. Transfers pitcures, sound between PC and Phone. Images can also be sent and resized via NECHDM.com for free to your phone, sounds can be transfered free via data cable or bought via GPRS.
Not a bad phone, I like mine a lot. I kind of miss the old features my Nokia 6800 had but I still love my NEC 525
