Trying to get WAP to work with my 8500 on MetroPCS

Ive read about 30 different threads about how to get free WAP to work on the 8500 (on this site and other sites) but still cant get it to work, so here's my plea to the public. I have an "old" 8500 with MetroPCS service. After I change all the ip settings to a WAP proxy (Ive tried free ones like devgate, I even tried making my own), when I try to connect to google's wap site or any other wap site, it just hangs at Connecting and after a couple of minutes says "Network not responding" or sometimes it goes to a blank screen with two buttons "Retry" and "Close". When I press retry, it goes back to the blank screen, when I press close, it goes back to the edit homepage screen. Any ideas? I'm using the 207.232.099.109 proxy on the VM link 2 and have the link 2 set as my wap proxy. I've also tried (as I said above) devgate's proxy and my own wap proxy server, but with the same results. Any help would be greatly appreciated. If you have any questions that need to be answered in order to help me, ask away and ill reply ASAP. Thanks!

the free wap trick is for virgin mobile users only. This is because virgin already has wap service for free on all of their phones but its limited to their virgin extras. The first generation vox's had a "defect" that allowed a person to change their homepage to whatever they desired which then allowed access the entire mobile internet without getting charged. Virgin later fixed this by completly removing the homepage feature from the phone. They then released the slider which had an even worse "defect" it allowed to you save url's in the phonebook and then quickly access then via your phone book. Like the vox, this was later fixed.

Now from my understanding from attempts from slider users on metro, metro doesn't offer wap browsing so therefore you cannot try and use the trick. Even if they did, they would probably charge which would make the trick useless. The key to the trick with virgin is that they already have very limited but free wap on their phones
