i went to radio shack and found the data cable for the 6000, and when i started to buy it the girl at the counter told me that i would have to get the software if i wanted it to work....is that true? or can i just get that off of the future dial website?

the whole point of this question:

what exactly do i need to get rid of the banner, use the highspeed internet connection, etc.?

yes you can just download the drivers off the website. it's posted in another thread, look around. i bought the same radioshack cable and it works fine.

to get rid of the banner, get a free program called BitPim (i think the version is 0.7), just search in google. then read this thread
