Hey guys,

Quick question, is there a way of retrieving my ESN number from my phone as a hex and then changing it to another hex?? I hear that the way phone companies bill your account is by ESN. When making and recieving a call, the ESN number is transmitted and recorded. Anyone have any imput to that??? Anything to make my cell phone bill cheaper would be nice. =)

Even if it was possible to change the ESN on your phone your plan still wouldn't work. There is a complex authentication process that happens every time you turn on the phone or make a call. They also have your ESN associated with your phone number on your account. If a phone with a different ESN has your number programmed in it tries to make a call it denies the call because the ESN doesn't match what is on file.

Nice try, but it would never work. And one more thing... your schemes to "make the bill cheaper" would be concidered fraud by your wireless provider. If you were caught at the very [i[least[/i] your account would be cancel with the ETF.

There are some individuals out there that have been able to get a phone working without authentication - this way you can have two phones out there "working" concurrently on the same account...

1.) Billing still works perfectly, as you cannot block your phone number from transmitting on any carrier's network. ESN is not the sole way to track and bill for the carrier.

2.) The odds of getting authentication turned off on your account are basically zero. Any first-level CS rep won't know what your talking about, and any tech that does know what your want certainly wouldn't do it without a legitimate reason; even if they did, they would be risking their employment in doing so.
