This maybe a stupid idea but it works (sorta).
Since I am too cheap to buy a screen protector for my t616, I decided to look for a cheap alterative that will serve the same purpose. I found that plastic wrap works quite well. Just find some tough plastic wrap, cut it 1.25"x 1.5" and stick it to your screen! Although it won't stand up to major wear, it will do just fine if you leave your phone in your pocket. It usually takes about 1-2 months before it wears out.

I understand your need for thrift, but since I switched from my Star-Tac flip phone to the t68i, I've used pieces of the screen protector that I bought for my Toshiba e310 pda.
I kept the t68 in my pocket with change and keys and became concerned about scratches, so I used the screen protector. Did not affect viewability of the screen, but did protect it for a year.
I just got the t616 and, with the larger screen, it was the first thing to go on. It also helps by eliminating the smudges and fingerprints the larger 616 screen presents.
Spend the money, get you the screen protectors, because you won't actually put a stylus to the screen one pack will last you through this and several more phones.

I agree, PDA Screen protectors are the best. PLUS they help a little bit with the problem of not seeing it in the sun, mainly due to washout and reflection. The screen protectors will cut down some of the reflection making it a bit easier. I have had one on my 616 for many months now, and it's still holding up wonderfully.
