Anyone know how to lower a .wav ringtone? It seems like all the .wav I've been creating are earblasting loud. I want them in sync with my other ringtones. Is there a program out there that does it? And if so..how is it done?
Thanks

Open the .wav in sound recorder (every winxp system has sound recorder), click on "effects" then hit "decrease volume" 3-4 times.
Make sure you dont lower it too much or it will sound a little garbled. The higher quality MP3 or wav you use, the more you can lower the volume without losing sound quality.
Simple as that.

Thanks...But when I lowered the file the way you advised it worked just like a charm. Except when I actually went to place the file into my phone thru iden java loader. It gave me an error message. So I assumed it needed further conversion so I used Cool edit Pro to convert to nextel format. EXCEPT that when I did this it placed it at the same high volume as I had it before...
I'm open to any other suggestions. Thanks in advance.

Ok. Instead of saying "Search, Noob" like some people. (no offense) here's the answer.
Download DBpoweramp.
Here's the link to the thread to D/L it.

Follow all the directions in the thread.
When you want to edit the song and lower the volume using the soundrec32.exe program (Sound Recorder) in windows, do it as told above.
After modifying the song, save it and re-convert it to the same format (8bit, 8000 Hz, Mono)that the phone accepts.
-DO NOT NORMALIZE VOLUME when you convert.
-DO NOT PRESERVE ID TAGS when you convert.
Simple enough....
