Need your help deciding between NEC 525 and SAMSUNG SGH-E715.
Was anyone successful unlocking NEC?
Does 850 band really helps reception?
Which phone has more features?
etc...

it is now possible to unlock nec 525.. bongo can do it ...

i want one too..but its got big problems.. even it has IR.. u must use data cable to customize or take out the pics.. according to timberland..

it looksnices..but all it really has thats worth is the quad band and looks

e715 has a way better camera, equal sound... colour..slim design.. less bulky.. i honestly would get nec 525 only if i get a data cable...

depends on ur needs

also its hard to find it here where i live.. toronto.i only know one person in life that had owned nec 525 b4

I have the NEC 525. Compared to my mom's 6200 and my old 6800. I liked the Nokia's better.

The NEC menu system is very crappy and not very intuitive. It has many hassle steps and its picky.

I used the E715 and found it to be more stream line.

Pictures can be edited to size and sent to the phone via NECHDM.com for free and then downloaded from the NECHDM website.

Graphics are great, camera is okay...
heres a picture of my girlfriend taken with the NEC 525

Ringer is kind of quite depending on which ringtone, sound quality is good but a little quiet. Battery life is decent.

Data cable is only needed if you transfer pictures and sound a lot. I use mine for pictures.

Size is tad big, buy accessories are cheap. Charger off ebay was only 6 dollars including shipping, headset that came with it was trashy so i bought a universal 2.5mm one and it works fine.

The games are free off of NECHDM.com, and are quite good. No lag or delayed screens!

IR only works between NEC525 and 515 and no other phones.

the Antenna is placed in the bottom of the keypad area so holding it is kind of awkward, the menus are okay but the phone book needs work but after a while you get used to it.

All in all I dont regret buying the NEC 525 but I wish I had a E715

I recommand E715. It's a better all-around phone. Afterall Samsung has been in the mobile industry way longer than NEC

NEC doesn't worth the price. Just because it's not avaliable in Canada, doesn't mean it worth that much

IMO NEC 525 just another GD88 /w 850 band added. If you really dont' midn the size of NEC 525, i would suggest you spend slightly more on a used GX20/22, that would impress you MORE

NEC 525 =~ $400CAD
GX20 =~ $450CAD~ $500CAD
GX22 =~ $500CAD ~ $550CAD

E715 has a sexy design, great reception, decent enough camera, flash, OLED display (Count as design), loud ringtone, small size, what more could you ask for?
