How do you like your SE47?

So I was thinking about getting the SE47 with verizon and my questions are

1) How do you like your phone? Any problems or lock ups?

2) I would want to use this phone with a data cable and my laptop to surf the web. Can it do it? If so how fast is your connection speed?

3) Given everything you know about your SE47 if you had to do it all over again would you get the same phone or a diff. one?

Thanks

David

1) It's lovely, no problems on Kyocera's part (VM is another story)

2) I don't know

3) Hell yeah I would get the same phone, but I would wait and get the Verizon one, because it's cheaper, and better (no filter)

I've got a VM Slider and WAP works fine... what is getting filtered? Plus, if you get the Verizon one the games that come with the VM Slider aren't on there... you've gotta buy them through Get It Now.

the filter is the filter that blocks out downloads from other sites. I also wouldn't change my mind about the purchase of the phone.

I don't think anyone here has tried using it as a modem. I love it and hell yeah i'd buy it again.

Thanks everyone for you imput. I really need to know how this phone works with my laptop. Do you know of any websites that could tell me or maybe some place I can do some reading on this phone? Thanks again

I have the SE47 slider from Verizon, a Mac G4 Titanium Powerbook and the Kyocera USB data cable.

I use the phone as a modem all the time and get speeds a bit faster than dialup (7Kb/S average).

Setup on the TiBook was simple, so if you have a PC I imagine it would be pretty easy.

Nanook what happens when someone calls, does it let you pick it up or does it give them a busy signal? When your connected does it just think your on the phone, basicly does it take away your anytime minites or not? Also did you have to pay extra to get that speed of internet because my roommate uses the internet on his older verizon phone and it goes painfully slow like 1kbs.

When I get a call it goes straight to voice mail. No ringing on my end.

The next questions would be more accurately answered by Verizon (your provider, right?) but...

Make sure a feature called "National Access MOU" (minutes only usage) is enabled on your plan. I believe it is only availale on America's Choice plans. This allows you access to the higher speed data network (3G?) while using only minutes from your plan. No extra fee is necessary.

The older data option was, and still is, Verizon's Quick-2-Net 14.4bps network. That speed is very slow for surfing, but adequate for email.

Verizon has an even faster internet option (300-400KB/S) but it requires a notebook card and $80/month extra. I find the 3G National Access speeds quite acceptable for now.
