Hi, new at this forum, but I'd like to ask anyone who knows - how to check the firmware of the x70? and what is flashing about?
I just got my x70, and the pictures are rather blurred and blue-ish. night mode has speckled blue spots in it. there's also no way to turn off the camera sound is there?
thanks very much if you can help

There is a better expanation somewhere on this forum, but *#9999# will give you the firware version. If I remember correctly it is the last few digits of the output.

in poor lighting it will have blue specks. to get rid of em ur best bet is to use the photolight. that really helps out.

No, you can't turn of the camera sound (it would appear Panasonic is concerend about being sued by someone who didn't know they were having their photo taken).
*#9999# is the code to find out your firmware version, but you have to do it as soon as you turn it on, before it finds the network. The top line of the output will have an A number near the end - this is the firmware version. As I write this, the latest people have been discussing is A30, but A32 has also been spotted. Flashing is updating the firmware.
As sayeds33 said, blue dots are caused by low-light conditions. Twilight mode will alleviate this a little (hold it very still for this - it works by taking a longer exposure), but photo light or generally better lighting conditions will make more difference.
