Problem finding file using data cable

I've been reading your forum for a few months and have learned a lot, thanks. I searched the threads for a problem similiar to mine and didn't find anything, so here's mine.

Phone: CDM8900
Data Cable: from eBay
Driver: Curitel 95C USB
Bitpim: 0.7-test 6

I am able to browse my phone's files through the file system tab.
To add a file to the phone (mp3 in .mid format) I right click on OM, select new file, choose the file, it adds it and appears to be in that directory. I can't find it on the phone, not in ringtones or in media gallery.
Is there another step I must take or am I way off path?

dhl - you beat me to it!

This thread is also helpful, as it shows how to use PixPlace once, then use the copy/overwrite method with BitPim to get data loaded to the phone.
