Why Honda tuners are BUMFAIRIES.

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: [Corporal Dan]

Been a while since i posted in an inflammatory manner, so it was high time....

First, the claim:

Quote:
Jonathan tells us that his foremost objective with his Del Sol was "to be recognized by building a car that was plain and simple with power and finesse". Mission accomplished.

Take note of the power. I don't know about plain and simple... I don't like finesse; it's a blanket term for all things watered-down or lacking in brute, neck-snapping power.

Heart of the beast:

Quote:
Power comes from the standard SOHC 1.6-liter inline four, which was mildly modified with Nology 10mm spark plug wires and an AEM cold air intake with bypass valve. The look of the engine bay is enhanced with the addition of a polished valve cover, polished heat shield, red engine details and other accessories.

Amazing. An 85 dollar set of plug wires (gross overkill) and a polished FREAKING LENGTH OF PIPE, as well as the usual billet Trailer Queen trimmings.... combine to offer a SHOCKINGLY BRUTAL

Quote:
Displacement: 97 ci, 1590 cc
Horsepower: 125 @ 6600 rpm
Torque: 106 @ 5200 rpm

Now look at all these other "mad tyte" bolt-ons THAT SCREAM JAPANESE SUPERCAR!!!111oneone

Quote:
The flawless exterior bodywork contains S15 headlight and S2000 taillight conversions, as well as a modified Mugen front bumper and Mugen side and rear add-ons. The suspension benefits from an ARP upper strut bar, Greddy coilovers, 16-inch Ewing Work RS Beta 3 piece wheels, and Falken ZE502 205/40/R16 tires.

Holy crap, not only does the body kit add 40hp, y0, the cheap suspension parts (2 in all!!) and grossly overpriced dubs make this baby a CORNER CARVER! FO SHO

Quote:
Interior advancements include Sparco shift knob, pedals, steering wheel, red carpet, red vinyl/leather, and a red bezel. The Audio upgrades are comprised of a Kenwood 9500 stereo, 6-disc changer and speakers.

All full-race parts!

-Sparco shift knob-carbon fiber weight reduction to limit rotational inertia... helps you shift faster!
-Aluminum pedals - to make sure the clutch pedal comes up quick for positive clutch engagement!
-Red Carpet- Becayse red is lighter than blue, y0!
-Vinyl/Leather - Because we can't tell the difference anyhow
-Racing steering wheel- Because airbags decrease downforce.

-Stereo/speakers - Because no high-performance japanese supercar is complete without crappy rap music blaring out of the interior!

To add insult to injury,

Quote:
Jonathan already has one 1st place trophy under his belt from the 2001 Fiesta Island Car Show in San Diego, and he's sure to win again.

It's official ladies and gents.... the Import phenomenon is a joke. All show, no go has never been more true.

but u gotta apreciate sylvia style aftermarket lites on a plastic bumper on a HONDA!!!!

thats what i call classy man ...

i wonder if he has a glued on spoiler that doesnt match his car on the bac,,, ONLY THEN IS IT TRUUUUUUUUUUE RICE lol...

Dan tho, your a fan of old skool muscle rite?

<breathes a sigh of relief>

...ya Dan, I was starting to worry about you.

Posted by: phatroyale

thats quite a fairy engine

Posted by: sneakerpimp

actually, the guy on that lameass show tuner transformation is bum fairy. reminds me of woody from toy story.

Posted by: micro214_kp61

no disrespect but i don't think you know anything about imports. i personally don't agree with "phat" rides myself but i tell you one thing a Greddy full coilover kit will prolly cost more than a fiero so it's not cheap, hehehe.

I fcukin hate riceburners...........but that's just my oppinion

Posted by: Dutchman

Posted by: crazeazn

its still a del slow... maybe fun to drive but thats about it..

Posted by: Mr_Ed

Zero to sixty in . . . wait, can this DelSol actually get to sixty?

I hate riceburners too. Most of these kids don't actually know the meaning of the word "power" so I guess I can't get too pissed off at them. When I was in high school, we rode around in modified late 60s to early 70s american iron with V8s that put out real torque and horsepower. Without a similar experience, they often have skewed ideas about what constitutes "powerful", "quick", and "fast" in an automobile. Of course, that's what I tell myself everytime some kid in a civic or an accord pulls up next to my Porsche and starts revving up his engine

Posted by: sneakerpimp

whoa, i thought i'd never say this but i'm sick of rice-rockets too. the "scene" just isn't the same anymore. it's full of these F&F wannabe kids who know nothing about performance and style. i'm not an import hater either. this is coming from me... former honda civic JDM-styled eg hatch w/gsr right here.

Posted by: mobilezen

The eye candy looks good...besides that, I can probably beat it wearing my adidas sneakers.

Posted by: edwinx

I think we all know there are horrible examples out there.......

Posted by: fredwards

now now dont be to harsh.. someone has to drive the ××× cars lol..

Posted by: mobilezen

:laughs:

That is SO true!! I love imports but it has gone overkill! Especially with Civics.

You find a gay del Sol and suddenly this is a del Sol bashing session?

WTF do you drive anyhow? All of you ×××××××s have no idea what your babbling about. Sure that del Sol was a sad sad specimen, but Honda's aren't popular because of the bandwagon, they're popular because they're cheap & reliable, ×××× ask any family with an Accord, Odyssey, CR-V, whatever.. Just because the Civic has become the adolescent tuner car and some people not only create but then purchase useless colorful ×××××××××××× parts, doesn't give you the right to tear apart an entire vehicle class.

Google "mugen del Sol" and click the second link, or the "cardomain.com" site. That's my car..

If you think my car sucks, good. I just feel compelled to prove that not all del Sol's are useless money pits.

Posted by: buhdussy

^ What are you trying to prove with showing us your car?... That yours is Gayer than the rest. BTW nice license plate Jack@55.

...

My time would be better spent otherwise, so I won't respond intelligently.

Here's what I will say instead.

SHUT UP, NEWBIE.
You don't know anyone here or what they think. This thread is not what it seems.

Posted by: NextelsOnly

The original idea behind rice was for a cheap, reliable car; but most after that just jumped on the bandwagon.
