vx6000 or slider

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I posted this in the lg forum as well. The more responses the better.

I am in need of a new phone. I am debating beween the lgvx6000 or the kyocera se47 slider. For those who have both, can you tell me which you prefer. Or if you have had experience with either, which seemed better. I wanted to wait for the new phones coming out, but they keep delaying the release date, plus they will be to expensive for me. Any opinions will be appreciated.

Get the vx6000, especially if you want/need the camera.

I don't have experience with the 6000 (didn't see the need for a camera, and wasn't too fond of the egg-shaped design), but it consistently receives good reviews, more so than the Slider. The 6000 seems to be more "hackable" in that there are more websites and resources dedicated to modifying it.

The Slider has the reputation of being more form over function--a cool looking phone with mediocre phone capabilities. Reception has been an issue with some people. I've only had the Slider for a couple weeks, but I've had no problems with it so far (*knock on wood*). The speakerphone is excellent, producing a loud, crisp sound. If you haven't already, you should test out the Slider (i.e., hold it). I have small hands, and I thought the buttons were hard to press. But you get used to it pretty quickly by learning to angle your fingers so as not to misdial.

I don't think you can go wrong with either phone, but everyone has different experiences. As I mentioned, most people seem to be happy with the 6000, whereas there are quite a few who have tried out the Slider and have taken them back during the 15-day period. You may be better off with the 6000, but since I've had good luck with the Slider, I'm partial to the Slider and have to recommend it as well. (Let's face it: It does look cool...but it's also a decent phone.)

Good luck and let us know what you choose.

how is the wap browser on the vx6000

I had the vx6000 and then got a slider because I didnt like it. I never was much of a fan of flip phones and I dont miss the camera (although I did wish i had it the other day ). I like the fact that the slider has the "vibrate then ring" function. It anoyed me to no end that i had to keep holding down a button to switch from vibrate to ring mode and back. On top of that, I had to remember to do it. I like the way it feels on my ear and that it has speaker phone as well. So the slider just fits me better. I am currently selling my vx6000, however. It is in brand new condition. Not a single scratch on it, etc. PM me if you are interested.

the 6000 isn't a flip phone, its a clamshell phone

Posted by: cratos

It flips opened, therefore it is a flip phone. If you want to call it clamshell, whatever.

Posted by: braindead5400

a flip phone is a phone that is like a candy bar phone but a pice flips down revealing the keypad, think back to that really old motorola or erricson. The proper term for phones like the vx6000 is clamshell or folder type phone

this is a flip phone

Posted by: cratos

Look, i dont really care what you call it. Even the people at Verizon call them flip phones. Everyone I know calls them flip phones. Like I said, call them what you want. I'll call it a flip phone like everyone else.

Haha, yep.

Not really tho, I just never learned them as "clam shell phone". "Hey everyone check out my cool new 'clam shell phone'." hmmm, errr no thanks.

My thread has been highjacked. Thats ok. I think I will go with the slider only because its cheaper. The 6000 apeals to me a bit more, but I don't know if it appeals to me $50 worth more. I will see. Thanks for the replies guys.
