I had it working yesterday (uploaded one mp3 as a ring-tone) but today it refuses to work. Here's the log output:

Well - regardless of the deafening silence in response to my post, I found an answer to those who might be struggling with bitpim and the VX4500 (at least - probably other phones from LG).

The trick seems to be to retrieve the phonebook info first (data->get phone data->click on phonebook only). This correctly sets the phone into "brew" mode, whatever that is. Trying to get the other data first only results in the "problem switching from none to brew" error.

Once the phone is in "brew" mode, the other activities can be performed, such as retreiving the eri.bin file to edit out the Verizon banner, and uploading new ringers, etc.

Rgds,

JohnW

i'm having the same problem with my vx6000, it's been working for the last two weeks fine. i come home tonight and i doesnt do anything. I'm getting the same message you got at first. Tried what you did but it didnt help me...anybody got any ideas??

...fixed my problem, if this is happening to anyone else check to make sure something else hasn't taken over your com port.

jwehman-

Thanks to your post, I got the phonebook downloaded, but I can get anything else. I get the following error when trying to d/l the wallpapers, ringers and calendar:

Please see the help for details on what to do.

I can see the filesystem in FileSystem view, but have no idea what it all means. Any suggestions? I'm really interested in uploading wallpaper, ringers and my calendar.

I have been trying for the last day too to get the bitpim working on my vx4500. Trying to upload wallpaper. I have the VZN MOK. No luck. Bill
