8380 Locked to taiwan network help!

hi i have been having problems with a mitac 8380, its appartantly locked into a network in taiwan and wont work with any uk sim cards. mitac say i need to unlock it.
anyone know of any web based places that can unlock it via the imei number??

That is really wierd that a phone would be locked to a Taiwanese provider. The typical phone sold in Taiwan is unlocked.
