A60 help

Probably get shot down in flames for this so sorry in advance 
I'm trying to unlock my sons (age 11) A60 from orange , to use a Tesco sim I've bought some FREIA9 software from Ebay and a genuine Siemens data cable but the scant instructuions for the software don't seem to work any sugestions ? don't know if its a PC problem or a cable problem or a phone problem or just plain ignorance
