G4050 wallpaper questions

I just ordered a data cable and should get it soon so I have some questions.
Is the wallpaper size 128x128 for the 4050? I think that's what I read.
I also tried downloading a wallpaper online to test that size, and it removed all of the color from the picture, so it was just a sorta messed up black and white.
Any idea why?
And what program should I use with the data cable?
