I have searched but I cant find anything. If you have a .bmp wallpaper file, how do you go about changing it to a .gif file so it can be transferred to an i730? Do you have to download a program (i.e. a bmp to gif converter) or is there an easier way?

You need some sort of photo/imaging software that supports gif files.

http://www.irfanview.com/ open file with this program, select "save as" choose the format you want.
