That LED on the iMate Smartphone2...

I've noticed the iMate Smartphone2 has this little LED on it. I've read it shows network status (blinks when you have a signal) and glows blue when BT is on.
My silly question: How often does the LED blink when you've got a signal?
Since the color screen will no doubt turn off when in standby, I like to know if I have a signal w/o having to reach over and press a button. Without a 2nd grayscale LCD, the "blinky" LED light is my only other option on this phone.
The Motorola V60 series blinks about once every few seconds. My LG 4010 blinks about once every 30 sec, which isn't very useful. I think the Samsungs blink about once every 10 seconds, but I don't remember.
Call me picky... but I'd like to know!
