Similar problem with my 616, too: entered NO to all locking options but there's a "ghost in the machine" apparently ;-)

got mine fixed for a fee. just had to flash the phone and replace all system related files to ensure that it does not happen again.

unless of course, there is really a ghost!

#1__Flash? No clue! If that's akin to FLUSH, I'm perilously close to doing just that with (com)mMode & ATT Witless ;-)
Details, please?

FLASH! Dont flush your fone, that would be a waste of water!

Flashing a phone is just similar to reformatting a hard disk. Everything is erased and your start from scratch. Hopefully you have a back-up of your contacts and other personal data on the fone.

The term "flashing" was derived from the fone's use of flash memory chips to store data.

FLUSHING = SETTINGS >> MASTER RESET >> Reset Settings/Reset All?? Know *way* too much about that & the 13-second trick ;-)
You're right, I wouldn't waste the water: quirking or not, my SE's are like the friend you can't live with or without. ATT Witless, however, is the class bully you can't dodge until you graduate.

Well both are animals of the same breed except that flashing is higher up on the evolutionary scale.

It can be done by tech-savvy users but is most usually done in professional service centers. It is usually done just to upgrade the fone's firmware but is also done in times of serious trouble like the "four-locks closed problem".

Flushing just erases everything on the memory chips accessible to the user. Flashing erases everything on the fone (firmware and user info) and replaces them anew with a firmware and generic user info.

Sorry that your stuck with ATT. Guess it my luck to be in a country with "better" service providers.

Clarification appreciated, friend :-) Until a few years ago, I'd lived outside USA. Was dismayed to discover how cell comm is here & even now, how out of sync with the rest of the globe. :-(
:::sigh:::
