Anybody from Australia here?

I sent my friend an older S40 that I had and she's only running off v.3.1.0 - an unlocked Cingular unit. Would anyone know if Siemens Australia will update this to a higher version? I know for a fact that the S40 is not sold in Australia and I've written to them about this but never got a reply.
One other option would be to send the phone to either Hong Kong or Singapore (which are much nearer) rather than send the phone back here for an update (I live in the US). Besides, seeing "Cingular" on boot up, Siemens may not want to have anything to do with it. It happens.
Anyhow, any input anyone may have on this will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
