I was roaming in the city of Sao Paulo 3 weeks ago. I am a O2 monthly customer in the UK. I roamed on the TIM network. No problem making and receiving voice calls to any where on the planet. No problem sending and receiving SMS Text to and from UK and Ireland.

The problem I had was I could receive SMS text from friends on the TIM network but I could not send or reply to them. I got no message saying 'send failed'. I always got 'message sent'. The way I found out was my friends told me they didn't receive anything. I sent using the +5511mobile nmber format. Perhaps I should tell you that the mobile numbers I contact in Sao Paulo start as landlines do (0) 11 and the rest of the number 8123 4567

I did ask O2 UK but they want me to call them next time I am in Sao Paulo so they can do some tests. That could prove very expensive to me.

Anyone out there who can help?
