Hey guys, I will be going to Pacific Mall this weekend and want to upgrade the firmware for my T616. Is the R1B the newest firmware? Can they even do it at Pacific Mall....I am new to all this and read some threads but found them a bit confusing.
I am also with Rogers if it makes any difference.

yep, the newest firmware is the R1b027, and it does make a world of differences in the T616.

Faster Java speed, MUCH MUCH improved reception (or rather, the phone becomes much more optimstic) ... for the complete details, just search and there're TONS of posts abt it =)

About pacific mall, i don't know whether they have stores that offer the service. I would guess so, but i m sure they are not athorized dealers. I've never used bongowireless / harmton's service myself, but many HoFo members seem to be very pleased with their services.... Maybe you can give them a try.

I got my S/E T616 in the beginning of March. About 3 weeks after I got it I discovered it had the R1A firmware. I have had Rogers send the phone to Selectron in Newmarket (the S/E service centre in the GTA) twice and they have failed to upgrade the firmware. I called S/E and they advised me that no one does firmware upgrades in Canada and that I would have to send it to the U.S. for an upgrade. So far, Rogers has not gotten back to me regarding what firmware I should have received although one of their service centres told me it should be the R1B.

Does anyone know if and where I can get the upgrade in the GTA and whether I will have to pay for it?

Re T616 & firmware R1b027: how do I check what version f-ware I have? Since buying & activating my 616 (ATT, 4/11/04) it's quirking so many different ways that ATT has filed 3 Trouble TIckets in 3 weeks. :-l

I take it, from your last comment(s), that you are not pleased with your SE T616. May I ask why???
