Hey, just recently purchased an OKWAP A263 and I am using it in the UK with my O2 sim, I seem to be having problems with setting up the GPRS as the O2 site doesnt have the options to send settings to this make of phone. Ive tried sending the settings for other makes and it comes up with the option to save the settings then i dont know where the info gets saved to! As you can probably tell im a bit useless on phones so could anyone help me get it working?
Thanks!

That phone is so cute, if only it had 850 or 1900... its so small. the white one looks really nice.

is it the hello kitty version or the plain one?

What do you think about the phone aside from the gprs problems? especially sms?

set the settings manually. Try to follow the settings given for Samsung phones. It's pretty similar in that area. I'm using an OKWAP S762

Yeah it is a hello kitty one, its not too bad really got loads of extra features on it and the photos arent too bad but the quality could be better. Sms is alright too pretty easy to use. I think I will try putting in the settings manually then, ill just have a play with it, it was the phone model that it was most similar to which is waht I was looking for so thanks for that!

Hiya,

Just wondering how you got on with your settings?
I am considering buying this very phone myself, and want to know if it's all okay, I'm also with O2, so would need to set it upp for GPRS too.

What was the outcome? Did your phone come with a UK charger? that's another problem I'm having with trying to buy one!

Cheers!

hi

you will have to put the settings in yourself as the o2 website can send as a text but not to that phone.

go to the browers on your mobile and edit settings

O2 WAP settings (dialup):

Homepage: http://wap.o2.co.uk/
Dialup number: +447712 927927
Gateway (IP) address: 193.113.200.195
Username: o2wap
Password: password
Session type: Continuous / permanent
Port number: 9201
Authentication: Normal

Old o2/Genie shortcode WAP number was: 915000

O2 WAP settings (GPRS):
Note: Different settings for contract and PAYG (Pay as you go)

Homepage: http://wap.o2.co.uk/
APN address (contract): wap.o2.co.uk
APN address (PAYG): payandgo.o2.co.uk
Gateway (IP) address : 193.113.200.195
Username : o2wap (contract) / payandgo (PAYG)
Password: password
Session type: Continuous / permanent
Port number: 9201
Authentication: Normal

I actually took it into the 02 atore and two of the guys that worked in there tried to input the settings manually and came to the conclusion that its not compatible : ( something to do with it not having the option to put in enough information for the GPRS to work, bit gutted really! If anyone can challenge this then ill be glad to know any way of getting round it!

Hi

I've never heard anything like that before. I wouldn't believe that they dont always know everything. Try doing it yourself with the setting I have given you. Or send me the details and ill send them back to you. Every phone different and doesnt always ask for every setting.

Thanks for all your help.

However after spending a good half hour trying to input these settings, theres still no joy.

when i go into settings, then GPRS, i have both WAP setting and GPRS link setting.

The GPRS asks for the APN, username and password, which i have inputted.

The WAP asks for homepage and IP addy, which again i have entered.

Any ideas?

Kate
xx

*thanks again*
